In September 1978, while the country was still accessible to tourists, I left with a small group for Afghanistan. At an altitude of 1900 m and far from any agglomeration, in a steep valley at the confluence of the rivers Hari-rud and Jam, I found myself in front of the splendid minaret of Jam. 65 meters high, it is entirely covered with a geometrical decoration in relief with a kufic inscription in turquoise tiles. It would have been built in 1194 by the great Ghurid sultan Ghiyas-od-din (1153-1203).
Since 2002, it is registered by UNESCO on the list of the world heritage in danger. Scientists have not had access to it since 2010.

The Alster Tower is often referred to as the Playhouse.
Completed in 1899, the Alster Tower is the most architecturally unique structure on Heart Island that was modeled after a Rhineland defense tower in Germany and purposely constructed with slanting and uneven walls, ceilings, and roofs. With a two-lane bowling alley, Kitchen, Billiard Room, Venetian Room, Library, Shell-Room and Theatre, George Boldt wanted to create the ideal atmosphere for recreational activities. Unlike the main Castle, the Boldt family used the tower up until the time of Louise’s death in 1904.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.

Twas my senior year in high school. I should have been studying. No. I was out making bad choices. Exposing Kodacolor instead of Kodachrome. I had money supply issues. Much different times.
No footboards, no ditch lights, no stinking badges. Here's a westbound IHB move within Hohman interlocking in Hammond, Indiana. It's still here, just looks a bit different now.

I had a perfect view of the road while eating lunch. Unfortunately I was sitting behind glass, and I couldn't make the reflection invisible for the photos.

On my way back from the French Riviera I came across a field of classic cars. Even though it looks like the cars have been spending some times in the field, the garage is brand new.
One year ago, there was not a single car to be found on this field!
I got the opportunity to photograph freely. There were some amazing cars.
In Canada, the Caravelle first appeared for the 1978 model year as a version of the Dodge Diplomat for Canadian Chrysler-Plymouth dealers. As all Chrysler Canada dealers sold Chryslers, only the top-of-the-line LeBaron was sold in Canada, and the Diplomat and Caravelle did not offer the top line models.
The top of the range Caravalle was approximately $670 cheaper than the LeBaron. In 1983, Chrysler Canada added the E-body version of the Dodge 600, also offering it as a Plymouth Caravelle. The rear wheel drive Caravelle then became the Caravelle Salon, rather than taking the American "Gran Fury" name.
The coupe was dropped after 1986 while sedan production came to an end in 1988.

This is an early illustration of mine from 1978. According to the tear sheet it was for the book review section of a magazine called SR. I have no recollection of this magazine. But, I remember the drawing. Archiving my work continues.

Blue skies finally poked through the clouds today. This is a picture I've wanted for a while but resisted taking so I could get a blue sky. This is the Edwin A. Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University.
