-------- Obituary --------

Dennis (Denny) Wayne Sailsbury

1942-2021

Ames - Dennis (Denny) Wayne Sailsbury, age 78, passed away at his Ames, IA home on March 6, 2021 surrounded by his family. A gathering of friends and family will be 4-6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way Ames, with a 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 12, graveside service at Ames Municipal Cemetery. Masks and social distancing are required at both events.

Dennis was born in Ames, Iowa on September 24, 1942. He was the oldest of four children of Dale and Martha Sailsbury. He was a graduate of Ames High School and resided in Ames his entire life.

Dennis married Betty Borg, of Forest City, IA, on October 3, 1964. He had a passion for photography and worked at the Ames Laboratory as a photographer for over 40 years. He carried his passion of photography into his family vacations and holiday celebrations. He was heavily involved with his children's (Hal, Eric, and Dan) activities. He rarely missed a practice or a game. He helped coached the sports teams they were involved in and was a cub scout leader for each of his three boys. He took many ski trips with his sons and grandchildren.

He was also devoted to his seven grandchildren (Chelsea, Alex, Jack, Roman, Calvin, Max, and Jonah). His grandkids had many overnights at grandpa and grandma's house as they loved how he allowed them to stay up late to watch movies, eat chips and salsa, and make malts with grandpa. The morning always greeted the kids with his famous pancakes, as he was the only one that knew how to make them the "right way".

He was a teacher at heart, as he loved teaching life skills to his kids and grandchildren on how to drive a boat, fish, camp, build wood working projects, and how to enjoy life.

Everyone knew Dennis as an avid RAGBRAI rider as he rode RAGBRAI for 27 years. After he decided not to ride anymore, he would provide support in transporting gear and setting up tents for his kids and grandkids when they would join the ride regularly.

Dennis was a staple in his involvement with Ames High School Football. During football season, for 40 years, you could find him on Friday nights volunteering his time at Ames High football games running the chains on the sidelines marking first downs. Because of his dedication and years of service, he received a distinguished service award from the Ames High School Athletic Department.

Dennis loved camping. He took his family on numerous camping trips over the years and spent many years with his sons and grandchildren on canoe trips in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern Minnesota.

In retirement, he worked part time at Reiman Gardens at Iowa State University as a jack of all trades. He spent many hours building displays, performing maintenance on equipment, and mentored many of the student workers.

He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis.

Dennis never turned down an opportunity to try something new, because he was always a kid at heart.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Betty; son Hal (Dana) and their three children, Chelsea Bright (Isaac and great-grandchild due May 27, 2021), Alex (fiancé Kiki Kramer), and Jack; son Eric (Margene) and their son Roman (fiancé Morgan Warbalow); son Dan (Megan) and their three sons Calvin, Max, and Jonah; his siblings Marilyn Smith of Jackson, MO, Paul of Ames, IA, and Glen of Dysart, IA. His parents, Dale and Martha, preceded Dennis's passing.

Kim Anne Corieri Boeke Obituary

Kim Corieri Obituary

1953 - 2020

www.hamiltonsfuneralhome.com/services/services_detail.asp...

On November 7, 2020, Kim Corieri Boeke listened to Joe Biden and Kamala Harris speak after becoming President Elect and Vice President Elect of the United States. As a proud Democrat who had been active in party politics for years, she was overjoyed with the results of the election. Sometime later that night, Kim passed away. Although she had struggled with health issues for many years, and most recently with concerns about her heart, no one sensed that her death was imminent.

Kim was born in Des Moines, Iowa in 1953. A second generation Italian-American, her family lived many places in central Iowa, but she was a graduate of Ames High School. Kim was a woman of many passions, including an abiding love of California, cats, playing pool, and the color purple. She also deeply treasured her friendships and put great effort into staying connected with friends who were distant in time or place. Many of her greatest relationships came from the 12-1/2 years she worked at Commtron/Ingram. Over the years, she maintained and nurtured the friendships she made with co-workers and even some of her customers. In 2001, Kim had to leave the job and friends she loved so much due to the onset of the depression and anxiety she struggled with for the remainder of her life. Although she hoped to feel well enough to return to Commtron/Ingram, that was not to be...yet her friendships continued.

In August, 1996, Kim married John Boeke who was her devoted husband and steadfast beloved companion for the remainder of her life. Together they were avid Iowa State Cyclone fans and attended as many sports games as they could. Women’s basketball was a special favorite. Kim attended many Boeke family get togethers, always welcomed and welcoming to new members of the clan. She was especially fond of her mother-in-law, Bobbie Boeke. Together, she and John traveled to visit distant relatives and see the wonders of our country. In November of 2017, they even moved to San Jose, CA so Kim could live out her dream of living in the Bay Area. For several months they relished exploring the region, and Kim was able to walk along the beach at Half Moon Bay at sunset. However, they missed being near their family and dear friends so John and Kim returned home to Iowa.

Recently they had moved to a new apartment in Grimes, Iowa and they were just getting settled into their new place. After losing their 20 year-old cherished cat, Britteney, this summer, they had welcomed two new cats, Mercedes and kitty Jayden, into their home. The recent election had turned out the way they hoped.....there was a lot to look forward to.

Kim was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Retha Corieri; and adored cats, Britteney, Prince, and Princess. She is survived by her husband, John Boeke; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Boeke; step-granddaughter, Kylie Boeke; siblings, Rosalind Paige, Leslie Corieri, and Kelly White.

There is currently no memorial service planned. Memorial contributions in her honor can be made to the Ames High School Theater Department, 1921 Ames High Drive in Ames, IA, 50010.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

The tribute video for Kim Corieri Boeke will be available here shortly.

Ames High School class of 1972 40-year post reunion summary

The 40th reunion was amazing!! The class of 1972 always has one of the strongest most connected classes out of all the Alumni classes at AHS, and this was no exception as approximately 100 1972 classmates met and re-connected on Friday July 27 2012 at Moore Park Shelter in Ames Iowa.

Saturday, July 28 1972 classmates toured the High School then 80 classmates met again later that day for a banquet, group photos, a short program and then another wonderfully enchanted evening of re-connecting with old friends. It was so much fun to see classmates we had not seen for so long, in some cases not since AHS days 40 years ago. We all have journeyed 40 years to get to this spot in time. It is something ever so special to have friends that span most, if not all of your life, especially after 40+ years. Sunday was an awesome picnic at Brookside Park in Ames IA, then we shed a tear and said our goodbyes and we hope to see you again soon.

Cynthia Dahl Barton Obituary

Cindy Dahl Obituary

Cynthia Dahl Obituary

Ames - Cynthia Jo Barton (Dahl), 66, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.

Cindy was born in Ames, IA on April 26, 1954 to Catherine (Heil) and Marvin Dahl, the 5th of 7 children. She grew up in Ames, graduating from Ames High School in 1972. She met her husband-to-be, Art, on a blind date in the summer of 1973, which led to their exchange of wedding vows on August 31, 1974. To this union were born William Lisle, Leah Marie, and Jeffrey Arthur. Cindy worked as a stay-at-home mom when her children were young, and relished a role of 'second mom' to many of their children's friends! Before and after raising her children, she worked as a secretary for Central Junior High, Elbert Chiropractic, and for 18 years in the Neurology Department at McFarland Clinic, until her retirement in 2016. Cindy and Art loved to travel and shared many adventures, both were also members of the Moose fraternity and through that association shared numerous trips over the years to state and national conventions.

Cindy was friendly, kind-hearted, and empathetic, blessed with a beautiful smile and a passion for fun! She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, who all grew up loving popcorn and sleepovers at Grandma's! Cindy loved sunny days, walks, birdwatching, mystery novels, vacations, RV'ing, campfires, beaches, winters in AZ, scary movies, classic rock, Dancing with the Stars, The Voice, The Bachelorette, The Good Place, the ISU Cyclones, morning coffee, and enjoying happy hour with friends!

Cindy is survived by her husband Art, their children; Will of AZ; Leah (Andrew McCormick) of Johnston, IA; Jeff (Sarah Barton) of Ames, IA; six grandchildren - Nora, Owen, Roman, Viggo, Oliver, and Clementine; siblings Judy (Gene) Harrison of Camp Verde, AZ, Jerry (Regina) Dahl of Clinton, IA, Jan Stivers of Tucson, AZ, Chris Dahl of Tucson, AZ, Debi (Gary) Fry of Ankeny, IA, Nick (Bobbie) Dahl of Memphis, TN, and step-siblings Stanly (Duane) Chaloupka of Loveland, CO, and Ron (Nancy) Toppenberg of Newton, IA; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Blessed be her memory.

Probably taken May of 1972, although it could have been taken in the spring of 1971 since golf was a Spring (cold) sport. Now Iowa High School golf is in the Fall. Brrrr, why didn't we do that back in the 1970's? Note: Ed Hendrickson Jr was 15 and on the Sophomore golf team when this was taken.

Welcome back Class of 1972 Ames Senior High School !!

Ames High School class of 1972 45-year post reunion summary

The 40th reunion was amazing!! The class of 1972 always has one of the strongest most connected classes out of all the Alumni classes at AHS, and this was no exception as approximately 100 1972 classmates met and re-connected on Friday July 21 2017 at Moore Park Shelter in Ames Iowa.

Saturday, July 22 we all toured the High School then 80 classmates met again later that day at Ames Golf and Country Club for a banquet, group photos, a short program and then another wonderfully enchanted evening of re-connecting with old friends. It was so much fun to see classmates we had not seen for so long, in some cases not since AHS days 45 years ago. We all have journeyed 45 years to get to this spot in time. It is something ever so special to have friends that span most, if not all of your life, especially after 45 plus years. Sunday was an awesome picnic at Inis Grove Park in Ames IA with another fun group photo, then we shed a tear and said our goodbyes and we hope to see you again soon.
