Looking Close on Friday: "Spirals" theme
A vintage toy from the 1950s, Space Satellite is a toy/game that I had as a kid. It requires the player to tilt the card in a way that rolls the ball bearing "satellite" up a molded plastic spiral to a resting place on top of the spiral. It's not easy to do, by the way. I did a bit of spiral-like light painting in keeping with the theme, and processed the image in a scratchy style in an effort to match the now scratchy condition of the clear plastic dome on the toy.

This is the second part of two shot on a Sunday afternoon in rather threatening weather conditions that quickly turned to fine drizzle, then real rain.
Out of camera jpeg with no edits apart from some slight sharpening.
Olympus Pen E-P5 with an early 1950s C mount movie camera lens, the Kern Switar 25mm f/1.5 (approx 50mm equivalent on MFT). I was curious to see what it would make of the nature scenes and the conditions.
I still think it's one of the nicest lenses I have. But scarcely usable on APS-C (strong vignetting) and not at all on full frame.
Here is another look back through that magical photographic window to yesteryear at a scene of a 1950s style thresheree.
This vintage Kodachrome only had a number penciled on it (probably for filing purposes), and the newest car model I could spot parked up on those hills was a 1951 Ford.
But there is so much cool detail in this photo, with the two vintage (even back then) steam powered tractors, a water wagon between them for when the boilers need a drink, and a well-worn 1936 Dodge farm truck that was probably loaded with split firewood to feed the fireboxes.
The truck had a license plate for the State of Washington, and based on the open terrain all around, this location was most likely somewhere in the more wide-open, East-Central Prairie Territories of the State.
I also noticed the somewhat formal, country-folk attire of many of the spectators, so maybe this was a Sunday after Church crowd attending on that Sunny day so many years ago. – Circa September 1952.

A 1955 Mercedes Benz 190 SL from a time when chrome was king and wonderful white wall tyres adorned the wheels.
This is my newly arrived 1/18th scale diecast model by Norev. I can't wait to take it out in daylight. The shiny dark grey paintwork doesn't show at its best in this lighting, but I could not wait to take some shots of it.
Both shots are 15 image tripod mounted focus stacks.

Commissioned Elvis figure, 21" tall. They wanted the younger, skinnier Elvis. My Wife made his suit.
Ivatt No. 46512 works away from Boat of Garten Station during an Andrew Fowler and Jonny Gourlay photo charter at the Strathspey Railway, March 2022.
This has become one of my favourite photos because of the atmosphere that it oozes. True heritage and scenes that recreate the feel of days gone by are one of the things that I aim for with my photography and as this is no longer what many railways try to achieve now I treasure those rare occasions when the pieces fall into place. Well done to Strathspey for managing to evoke that heritage feel.
Constructive criticism always welcome.

This shot reminds me of the 1950's detective noir films. Maybe a different edit gets it there

Launched at the 1948 London Motor Show as a Roadstrer as a show car, with public reaction encouraging William Lyons to put it in production for 1949. With the first customer car delivered to Clark Gable.
The first 242 were handbuilt with aluminium bodies and ash frames, but to meet demand the mass produced cars that followed had pressed steel bodies, but retained the aluminium doors, bonnet and boot lid.
