When men were men and cars were cars!

1950s Metropolitan, found in Pennsylvania

The Maunsell Forts are towers built in the Thames and Mersey estuaries during the Second World War to help defend the United Kingdom. They were operated as army and navy forts, and named for their designer, Guy Maunsell.[1] The forts were decommissioned during the late 1950s and later used for other activities including pirate radio broadcasting. One of the forts is managed by the unrecognised Principality of Sealand;[2] boats visit the remaining forts occasionally, and a consortium named Project Redsands is planning to conserve the fort situated at Red Sands. The aesthetic attraction of the Maunsell forts has been considered to be associated with the aesthetics of decay, transience and nostalgia.

A 1955 Mercedes Benz 190 SL from a time when chrome was king and wonderful white wall tyres adorned the wheels.

This is my newly arrived 1/18th scale diecast model by Norev. I can't wait to take it out in daylight. The shiny dark grey paintwork doesn't show at its best in this lighting, but I could not wait to take some shots of it.

Both shots are 15 image tripod mounted focus stacks.

On the Fourth-of-July, I would decorate my bike with crepe paper, and take baseball cards, attach them with clothespins to the frame, and extending into the spokes to create a wonderful thumping sound!

This was taken by my mother or father so I can't take credit for the artistry.

This was my back yard, my parents car and house in the background. The building on the right was, at that time, the Nash Auto Sales car dealership. The Nash Auto Manufacturer went out of business a couple of years after this photo.

Next up the 1950s. And boy did the Diahann Carroll style short hairdo slay the day!!

The 1950s was the era of strong communities and family values. Although there were many injustices going on at that time, people joined together to share love, food, and a good time between fighting for what they deserved. I admire this era because people actually looked out for one another and valued kindness more than in the present day.

What a project. I found this poor dress at a local thrift store, where it was forgotten and dumped. It was stained, torn and crumbled into ball; a mess. I am absolutely amazed with its recovery. Available 2/20

This has become one of my favourite photos because of the atmosphere that it oozes. True heritage and scenes that recreate the feel of days gone by are one of the things that I aim for with my photography and as this is no longer what many railways try to achieve now I treasure those rare occasions when the pieces fall into place. Well done to Strathspey for managing to evoke that heritage feel.

Constructive criticism always welcome.
