The Qahatika (or Kohatk) were a Native American tribe of the Southwestern United States and lived in the vicinity of present-day Quijotoa, Arizona.
According to Edward Sheriff Curtis, the Qahatika belonged to the Pima group of tribes and lived in five villages "in the heart of the desert south of the Gila River", about forty miles from the Pima reservation. A legend said that after the Pima suffered defeat in a war with Apache, the tribe fled and split. One splinter of the tribe, the ancestors of Qahatika, went into the barren desert and settled there in separation from other Pimas. The Qahatika, according to Curtis, managed to find land suitable for growing wheat. Their method of "dry farming" relied exclusively on winter rainfall: the soil near their villages was capable of retaining winter moisture for a whole season, and a few winter rains guaranteed a fair crop in summer.
The Qahatika seen by Curtis were "almost identical in appearance" to Pima and Papago. They retained the Pima art of basket weaving and developed their own tradition of pottery. Their houses were built almost exclusively of dried giant cactus carcasses.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 – April 21, 1910), known by the pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, humorist and essayist. He was praised as the "greatest humorist the United States has produced," with William Faulkner calling him "the father of American literature." His novels include The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), with the latter often called the "Great American Novel." Twain also wrote A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1889) and Pudd'nhead Wilson (1894), and co-wrote The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today (1873) with Charles Dudley Warner.
Twain was raised in Hannibal, Missouri, which later provided the setting for both Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. He served an apprenticeship with a printer early in his career, and then worked as a typesetter, contributing articles to his older brother Orion Clemens' newspaper. Twain then became a riverboat pilot on the Mississippi River, which provided him the material for Life on the Mississippi (1883). Soon after, Twain headed west to join Orion in Nevada. He referred humorously to his lack of success at mining, turning to journalism for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise.

Nymphaea lotus var. thermalis is a variety of Nymphaea lotus native to Romania. It is endemic to the thermal water of the Peţa River, Sânmartin, Bihor County, Romania. The area is protected as a nature reserve (51.0 hectares /126 acres) and consists of a rivulet along with three ponds. The water has a roughly constant temperature of around 30 °C, the site having an average air temperature of 10–11 °C. The thermal waters have been recorded as early as 1211, but it was only in 1799 that the first record of N. lotus was made, by Pál Kitaibel. Janos Tuzson proposed in 1907 that this population's unusual location could be explained by the persistent heat provided by the thermal springs that could have sustained the population at a pre-ice age time when the plant would have been spreading across the warmer regions of Europe. Diesel locomotive 1907 with a train of empty Uaoos wagons heading to Entroncamento. These wagons were stored at Tejo Energia (Pego) decomissioned coal power plant and since the rail yard and the railway to the power plant are set to be dismantled, the wagons needed to be moved to another location.
SAIL Amsterdam is a maritime event held once every five years in Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Tall ships from all over the world visit the city to moor in its eastern harbour. SAIL Amsterdam 2025 is the tenth edition, and the first one since 2015 as the 2020 event was cancelled. It was one of the main events celebrating Amsterdam's 750th birthday. It was also 50 years since the first SAIL Amsterdam was held.

Newnes Hotel.
Built in 1907 to satisfy the thirst of those who worked at the former shale oil refinery that was established in what was then known as Wolgan.
It was renamed Newnes in 1907 to honour Sir George Newnes who was at that time the chairman of the Commonwealth Oil Corporation.
Scattered around the surrounding landscape of Newnes reminders of the shale refinery’s past can be found although none of it is intact.
The only surviving building to remain intact is the Newnes Hotel (although it is non-operational as a hotel) but today it serves as a kiosk and a museum.
For those seeking solitude there are a few holiday cabins with the grounds of the hotel.
It was seriously threatened with oblivion in 1986 when the swollen Wolgan River threatened the hotel with rising floodwaters and so it was decided to preserve the building by relocating it to its current site well beyond the reach of flood waters.
Today the Newnes Hotel stands as silent testament to what was once, a shale oil refinery operation that was located within the Wolgan Valley.

Als gebürtiger Düsseldorfer hat es mich schon sehr früh in die Ferne gezogen. Frankfurt, München, Wien, Graz und seit 1999 wohnhaft in Jennersdorf, im wunderschönen Südburgenland.
Im ausgeübten Beruf als Werbegestalter und Grafiker (1966-1992) aber auch in der Selbständigkeit (bis 2012) ist die bildende Kunst immer allgegenwärtig gewesen.
Meine Leidenschaft sind Experimente mit verschiedenen Hilfsmitteln und Materialien wie zum Beispiel:
Kurzfilme mit und ohne Kamera - Kodak-Sofortbilder ganz ohne Kamera - Negativstreifen und Dias anders gesehen - PC-Fehler zur kreativen Weiterverarbeitung verwenden - Digitalfotografie und ihre Möglichkeiten mit einem Apple-Computer kombinieren und verfeinern - und bis heute noch vieles mehr entdecken...
