London to Brighton Veteran Car Run 2022. Coulsdon, Croydon. The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is the world's longest-running motoring event, held on a course between London and Brighton, England. To qualify, participating cars must have been built before 1905. It is also the world's largest gathering of veteran cars. The first edition, "The Emancipation Run" in 1896, celebrated the recently passed Locomotives on Highways Act 1896, which liberalised motor vehicle laws in the United Kingdom.
The run has taken place most years since its initial revival in 1927. It currently takes place on the first Sunday in November, starting at sunrise, about 7:00 AM, in Hyde Park, London, and mostly following the old A23 road to the finish at Brighton – a distance of 54 miles (87 km).

The Wuppertaler Schwebebahn (suspended train) is a suspended railway in the German city of Wuppertal.
Operation started on March 1, 1901. The structure has been a monument since May 1997. The line is 13.3 kilometers long and has 20 stations and is the eldest electric metro above the ground.

The American five-masted schooner James Pierce photographed brand new in 1901. My colorization of an image in the Library of Congress archive.
The 1664 grt 68.9 X 13.1. m. James Pierce was built in 1901 by Washburn Bros in Thomaston, Maine. Sadly, she was another fine ship without a happy end:
"On November 19th, 1912, the American wooden schooner JAMES PIERCE, on voyage from Philadelphia to Jobos, Puerto Rico with a cargo of coal, was abandoned after a collision with Norwegian steamer FRAM, 600 miles off the Bahamas. The crew of 13 were saved by the FRAM. The JAMES PIERCE was set on fire by her crew as she was a navigational hazard."

The Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company was established in the year 1901 in Springfield Ma. This is one of the very few motorcycles that I’ve never ridden. I hear they are great motorcycles and they are Beautiful bikes.
The Kristiania (Oslo) Port Authority steamer Jarl photographed by Anders Beer Wilse in 1901. My restoration and colorization of the original black and white photo in the Norwegian Maritime Museum archive (Digital Museum). I can imagine that the steamer was also used to entertain guests in the port of Oslo and the vicinity.
