Bonjour à tous,

Merci pour la visite et les commentaires!

It's been a while I havn't posted something here. I have to admit that I becomes more and more difficult to take pictures. Partly because my job takes me more time. But the main reason is probably that as I progressed into photography, I raised my standards to a point that taking a satisfactory picture was a kind of gamble : I realised that when I went out with my camera, there was less and less picture that I found worth posting. Let's be honest : even if it's - I think - good to privilege quality over quantity, it's also quite discouraging to know that you have maybe less than 1/10 chance to get someting good ... So I take less pictures than I used to ... I hope that I'll find new inspiration with spring ...

Of course, I should probably not think in terms of chance, but in terms of work and planification : I know, but, as you know, having good idea is not that easy. That's why I also like the "chance-factor" in photography ...

However, as every year, on a white foggy sunday, I like to go shooting these cascades in Soubey : Spring is always a little bit sooner there. And I like the enchanted forest setting that it creats ... I was particularly happy with the constrast between the light in the background and the shadows on the foreground. I decided to accentuate it in post-processing, to create a more oniric image ...

A macro of a glass of coffee, for Macro Monday, on the theme of beverage.

This was my second try at it, as the first try gave me some very lukewarm image. Also had to take a photo, then leave it for a few seconds, then go back, as the lense kept fogging up!

I was originally going to leave this as colour, but popped it into silver efex after color efex, just to see and I really liked it.

With time ...

With time everything goes away

We forget the face and we forget the voice

When the heart beats no more

It's not worth looking any further

You must let it go and that's fine

With time ...

With time everything goes away

The one we adored,

Whom we looked after in the rain

The one we understood with a simple glance

Between the words, between the lines

And under the make-up of a disguised promise

Which disappear into the night;

With time everything vanishes

With time ..

With time everything goes away

Even the dearest memories, got a strange facelift.

As I rummaged into the gallery of the past In the alley of Death,

on saturday evening when tenderness departs alone

With time ...

With time everything goes away

The other person we believed in for nursing a cold, for any little thing

The other person for whom we gave fresh air and jewels

For whom we would have sold our souls for pennies

In front of whom, we crawled like dogs

With time, everything goes well with time ...

With time everything goes away

We forget the passions and we forget the voices

Which whispered the words of the poor folks:

"don't come back too late", "above all, don't catch cold"

With time ...

With time everything goes away

We feel old and weary like an exhausted horse

And we feel frozen in an unknown bed and perhaps,

we feel lonely but carefree

And we feel cheated by all the lost years

So, truly with time, we love no more.

Most of the tulips in the garden have gone over, but this one is stubbornly hanging on.

Past are ghost they will not let you sleep.

Future are dreams they will not let you sleep.

Present is doing just now or never.

Time is running for ever and ever.

You have a single moment to do now.

Past and future makes files of thoughts in your mind.

They repeat and tingle you again and again.

Your mind is full of imaginations and illusions.

Your mind is full of attachment and tensions.

You start losing present moments.

You stop living present moments.

Time runs and never waits for you.

And you have nothing to do.

You cry for what you left before.

You dream to want more and more.

Wake up wake up now with this moment

Live with totality now with this moment.

After an unusually dry 12 month, the water storage levels at Mill Pond Reservoir are extremely low. This time last year, the reservoir was almost at capacity - this rock was 3 or 4 meters under water.

early in the morning or late into the night, I am not sure which moment to choose, so I won't.

A good time for me to get off the track, smell a flower, let the glee sink in and draw a line under the past 12 months.

no need to leave comments, thank you for stopping by! ;)

have a good end of the year, celebrate the way you like it!

A few weeks ago, my brother and I were still up at dawn, though he was heading to bed and I was kinda just in my insomnia fog. We both saw that the clouds outside the window were speckled across the entire sky in a way we hadn't seen before and it seemed pretty likely there'd at least be an impressive sunrise.

Often I seem to fall asleep right before dawn and wake up mid morning, rarely getting to see the sunrise. I decided to try and go to sleep anyway. 10 wasted minutes of cell phone solitaire later, I was getting my gear together and heading out the door. The delay left me with the Hollywood Bowl Overlook as the best and closest East facing place I knew of. I was the only person there when I arrived and set up at the very top of the overlook for the first time. The sky was still completely filled with this cloud pattern so I figured a larger panorama might work out, especially since I got there too late to mess around with long exposures.

As of now, I've never actually woken up to shoot a sunrise. They've all been a result of a sleepless night. Sometimes insomnia isn't so bad.

Another from a bonny early wander with Billy Currie a week or two back. I just rather liked the different paths of the river and the road. Stob Dearg was immediately to my left and it was looking rather magnificent but I just liked this view instead. A 2:1 crop of a single shot using the Zeiss 18mm - a recent acquisition and one that I bought as a nice walking lens for those rare occasions I go wide.

This is done in-camera. It's not a post-editing effect or anything like that. I used a 10-stop ND so that I could get a pretty long exposure. I think the first 5 seconds were still, and for the rest of the time, I used the camera as a paintbrush, moving it up and down.

I have this shot on my desktop background right now (16:9 ratio is meant for my screen) and it looks quite nice.
