De 1849 was voor de M4-stuurstand (58049) geplaatst omdat de stuurstand niet uitgerust is met airco, en de NMBS de treinbestuurders in de zomerperiode zo veel mogelijk in een gekoelde omgeving wilt laten zitten.

Op de voorgrond (boven het watermerk en links van een klaproos) is de kenmerkende fundering met vier bouten te zien van een nieuw Simis W sein.
