Cortez was a rather heavy tomcat of 6 kilos. As you can see he has lost a lot of weight due to age (16 years) and diabetes. But he can still jump on the kitchen counter to check if some food is available.

At 16 he's become childlike, adorable and so precious to me. This is shot through the kitchen window, he's asking with his eyes to come inside after completing his business. Just one moment fella, I need to capture you forever....

It is exactly 16 years since we lost our daughter, Jamie. When one counselor who was less than optimal for me asked me to write a note to Jamie, this was all I could say . . .
I really try not to mark this day, but it's impossible to forget it.
Thank you all for caring.
They looked at each other the way old trees might, quietly and knowingly. Words weren’t needed anymore. The years had spoken for them, etched their story into every line on their faces and every silence between their breaths. Life had weathered them, softened the sharp edges, but what remained was something unshakable. In that stillness, they remembered and understood. The future didn’t ask for vows or promises. It only waited, and they would walk into it together, hand in hand, as they always had.

Our beloved Cholie-pup passed away yesterday. It was sudden and swift and unexpected, but at nearly 16 years also expected. I recently took stock and realized I have said good-by to 15 dogs (now 16) in the past 9 years. It's never easy and it's never the same. Cholie was the first dog to pass with relative ease and without assistance. He literally died in my arms and I watched and encouraged his last breaths. Such a good, sweet and gentle boy right to the end. He is and will be sorely missed.
I was looking forward to photographing him with his brother Frodo on their 16th birthday in early March. This is the very last digital photograph I took of him, just ten days before he passed. I'm so glad I have the image, with his brother Frodo behind, the last of the dogs we raised from birth.
Today is our 16 years anniversary ! Not the wedding one but that when we first start our relationship !
and what a better image from the joyful face of our precious Eva ... ! Even though it has lots of grain I don't care much ... I love it !

As we begin our fourth year in New York, I have found that we have made a few "new" traditions up here.
We celebrated our Anniversary by having dinner at one of our favorite joints last night, and going to the Holiday Open House at the Shoe Factory Artist's Co-op , for the fourth year in a row, on Friday night.
The sweetest thing happened this year... After four Holiday visits, we were greeted with hugs and kisses by a couple of the artists who remembered us. That made our night even better.
The temperatures were in the 60s today so we wore two of our favorite T-shirts while setting up the outside Christmas lights and snapped a few shots for the T-shirt Over Your Head group.
We made dinner for my Dad and Great-aunt, helped around their house, and here we are..
Happily chugging along; having been better, having been worse, in sickness, in health, richer and poorer, but always by each other's side.

Today is our 16th Anniversary so we decided to celebrate with a pair of "T-shirt Over Your Head" photos. This is my first one and that is Todd's favorite, vintage T-shirt that he bought in Maui in 1988 back in his Hawaii Days.

This photo was most likely taken by Chester Bennington.
My memory of it is more than 16years old, so naturally, it’s full of gaping holes. The previous picture with Chester in it was probably taken by Mike Shinoda; my fuzzy memory tells me he was even courteous enough to offer to take the photo in the first place.

That day was actually the 2nd time I met him in person. Our first encounter was at the Two Days A Week Festival in Wiesen in 2000 when a friend had dragged me to the tour bus area and we were in luck. We collected autographs on our limbs. Got one from Fred Durst too, who seemed surprisingly excited; he loudly and proudly exclaimed that he had placed his signature on „an Austrian woman's body“. What a hilarious memory! Anyway, since then I’ve always brought album booklets with me for potential signatures.
Looking back, my favorite part of 'autograph-hunting‘ was taking the opportunity to personally tell some of my favorite musicians 'thank you’, their songs often meant a lot to me. Sometimes we’d talk about specific songs, lyrics or the music that had inspired them and I’d leave not only with autographs and a smile but also with a bunch of band recommendations.
There are not many memories left from the day of the above photo. Chi Cheng was still alive back then, and grumpy. Pretty sure Chino was stoned, probably all of them were.
I remember it wasn’t 'cool’ to be a Linkin Park fan back then, at least not in certain circles. Perhaps thanks to a conversation a couple of weeks earlier, I didn’t care at all and just enjoyed their music.
The conversation took place backstage, where I was chatting with DJ Product of (hed)p.e., while we were watching Papa Roach perform on stage. I explained to him that I wasn’t really into Papa Roach (I had come to see (hed), not them—of course!). I am still in awe of his gracious and kind reply. He told me they were good boys, working hard and some more things that made it clear that such arrogance was doing no one any good.
