1663. The Afon (River) Elan below the Penygarreg Dam in Powys, Mid-Wales. From here it drains into the Garreg Ddu Reservoir and then the Caban Coch Reservoir before ending up in the River Wye.
In the distance can be seen the Penygarreg Dam which is one of the dams in the Elan Valley. When the reservoirs are full and the surplus water is overflowing and cascading down the outer face of the dams, the results can only be described as stunning.

The Path on the Dyke
A student of Van Ruisdael, Hobbema became one of the most accomplished landscape painters of the Dutch Golden Age. Strongly influenced by his master's mature style, he found his own area of specialization in painting wooded landscapes. "The Path on the Dyke" is regarded as one of Hobbema's finest works.
