For the last 5 years, we have had Tree Swallows nesting in our yard. Sadly, this year we do not. We have been dealing with a magpie nest since April, removing sticks from our tree every day. The swallows did return, went inside our box and sat on perches, even when we were close by. They could have been the same couple as last year. We think they started to build their nest and the magpies scared them away, as there has been no activity even though they are flying around the area. The magpies usually came here before we got up in the morning and were very persistent in returning to try and build again. They have probably built a nest somewhere else now. I was in contact with someone and the advice was to remove the nest to protect the swallows. Yes I did have some feelings of guilt for the magpies because the birds work so hard to raise their families, but the swallows were my focus.

Es uno de los principales núcleos de la histórica región de la Alta Suabia. Ravensburg forma una conurbación con la vecina Weingarten. Además cuenta con varias pedanías importantes como Weissenau, Schmalegg, Oberzell, Eschach, Taldorf y Oberhofen.
Caben destacar las colinas predominantes al este de la ciudad, donde se encuentra el castillo de Veitburg, con magníficas vistas. Así como el Schmalegger Tobel, situado en Schmalegg, un profundo bosque de robles y coníferas, en el interior del cual se encuentran arroyos, puentes, cascadas y las ruinas de una antigua fortaleza. Es un bosque protegido de la acción directa del hombre.

Ravensburg is closely connected to the country's major highways, and has a station connected to the main rail network. The closest airports are Friedrichshafen and Memmingen. The main nearby capitals are Stuttgart and Munich, both between 150-200 km away
