1532 photos on Flickr

Located 65 million light years away in the constellation Eridanus is the large spiral galaxy NGC 1532 and its small companion galaxy NGC 1531. The gravitational effect of the small companion is causing plumes of stars to extend outwards from the large spiral.

Canon EOS 60D Ha Modified @ ISO 1600.

45x30 sec unguided subs with calibration frames added.

Celestron C11 at f6.3.

Tracked on a Skywatcher AZ-EQ6 mount.

Imaged from suburbia.

Processed in APP and finished off in LR.

Eventually the sun lost the battle against the clouds....again....

If you haven't figured it by now, this local is going to be a popular train for me to shoot over the next few months. The Aurora local leavse in the evening after I'm out of work and run west into the sunset with (typically) good power to boot. Today's train was no exception--a clean geep pair with a veteran on the front.

1532 started life as a Great Northern GP9 and has since been rebuilt into a GP28M and upgraded to modern standards. Well, mostly. As you can see by the open cab doors, this unit never received AC. Not the greatest unit to run in the July heat with not a cloud in the sky. With how long he was today, he was chugging along and not cruising at track speed like normal, which I'm sure the crew loved.

This is both Sam and I's first train at this new spot. Thank you again Mr. Brodersen for giving me a ride today and for finding this shot. Let's hope we get as many shots from here as we can before time catches up and this slope is littered with trees.

The vessel LADY ASTRID (IMO 9760419, MMSI 244020435) is a General Cargo Ship built in 2016 (8 years old) and currently sailing under the flag of Netherlands. Her length overall (LOA) is 88 meters and her width is 13.39 meters.
