This truck needs a little TLC. The headliner is coming down, the taillights are non-existent and there is rust on the bumpers and wheels, but the most disturbing thing is the large nest in the passenger seat. You can see the nesting material sticking out of the door. Now, I would guess an emu nest or an ostrich, but we don’t have those birds in the USA.
Whatever it is, it is big and, I’m guessing, hungry! After all, who knows how long it has been shut in this truck.
Or it could be several chickens! HTT
Sin duda uno de los alicientes que tenia la línea de La Robla hace algunos años eran los carboneros que circulaban entre la Central Térmica de Guardo y Mataporquera.
El carbón provenía del puerto de Santander. Hasta Mataporquera lo bajaba Renfe cargado en vagones abiertos Ealos. En Mataporquera se procedía a transferir el carbón de los Ealos de Renfe a las tolvas de Feve, que se encargaría de llevarlo hasta Guardo.
La tracción de este tren corría a cargo de tres GECo 1500 de Feve en mando múltiple, sin duda un verdadero espectáculo verlas circular.
En la foto podemos ver el carbonero cargado en dirección a Guardo coronando la rampa que hay a la salida de Cillamayor.

El ferrocarril en Asturias ha estado siempre muy profundamente ligado a su enorme industria siderúrgica. Desde sus orígenes, ha transportado enormes cantidades de materias primas y productos hasta y desde los complejos industriales para su posterior empleo en la fabricación de los más diversos elementos.
Una línea de sobra conocida es la de El Valle. Proyectada y construida en los años 60 para el transporte de carbón (transformado posteriormente en coque) del puerto de El Musel, así como de otros productos entre las industrias de Avilés y Veriña, es un auténtico no parar de circulaciones con cada vez más variado material, desde las vetustas pero robustas D hasta las más nuevas F y esporádicamente alguna mole con ruedas danesa...
Coque, carbón, slabs, planchas... o los impresionantes vagones torpedo con arrabio líquido a 1500 grados de temperatura son las cargas transportadas por estas sufridas máquinas, que no paran ni un solo día.
En la imagen, dos D en mando múltiple arrastran dos enormes torpedos llenos de arrabio hacia las acerías de Avilés a paso muy lento, pero sin pausa.

Con motivo de la XII Concentración de Coches Clásicos en TORRENT (Valencia) organizada por el Club de Automoción Horta Clàssics, www.hortaclassics.es y a pesar de que la iluminación no era la más adecuada (bastantes contrastes) pudimos tomar imágenes de algunos bonitos coches, entre ellos, este Triumph-Spitfire 1500 y de los que, según Wikipedia se fabricaron casi 96000 unidades entre 1974-1980.

On the occasion of the XII Concentration of Classic Cars in TORRENT (Valencia) organized by the Horta Clàssics Automotive Club, and although the lighting was not the most adequate (many contrasts) we could take pictures of some beautiful cars, among them, this Triumph-Spitfire 1500 and of which, according to Wikipedia, almost 96000 units were manufactured between 1974-1980.
The McConnell's Mill Covered Bridge was built in 1874. It is a Howe truss bridge. One of two covered bridges in Lawrence County, it is owned by the county, but is located on state land at McConnells Mill State Park. The bridge is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Pennsylvania is often recognized as the birthplace of covered bridge building. From the 1820s to 1900 there were about 1500 covered bridges built in Pennsylvania. Because many state residents realize the importance of these historic bridges, Pennsylvania has the largest number of covered bridges in the nation. Today, 219 bridges remain in 40 counties (Pennsylvania has a total of 67 counties). Lancaster County has more than any other county.
While covered bridges are sometimes called kissing bridges, the real reason for the covering is to protect the bridge’s truss design from the weather.
Class 122 Bubble Car number 55001 trundles across the River Irwell at Summerseats with the 1500 from Ramsbottom to Bury.
In the background is Brooksbottom Cotton Mill which closed in 1987 and was converted into luxury flats.
This is the 2nd mill built on this site, the original was built in 1773 by the Peel family as a print works. Sir Robert Peel was more famous for starting the original Police Force.
I used to ride on this Class 122 frequently around the west country in the 80s and early 90s. Her distinctive exhaust rattle is embedded in my memory.

Temple Newsam, is a Tudor-Jacobean house with over 42 rooms located in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, with grounds landscaped by Capability Brown.
The estate is almost 1,000 acres including parkland, lakes and a farm and the grounds of Newsam were first recorded in the Doomsday book in 1086.
Built by Thomas Lord Darcy between 1500 - 1520. It was the largest house of its day in Yorkshire. During its long history there have been many important owners. It was seized by Henry VIII, after he beheaded Darcy in 1537. Henry gave the house to his niece, Margaret, as a wedding present when she married Matthew Lennox. Their a son, Henry Lord Darnley, was born at Temple Newsam House in 1545. The house was seized for the second time by Queen Elizabeth I when Darnley married Mary Queen of Scots.
In the sixteenth and seventeenth century the Ingram family bought, changed and rebuilt many parts of the house and in WW1, part of the house was converted to a Voluntary Aid Detatchment for wounded soldiers. The estate was sold to Leeds City Council for £35,000 in 1922, with the house included as a gift. The house contents were auctioned off and the house was empty for a period of time, before being used as a sculpture gallery in the 1940s. After this, the process of restoring the house began, returning many of the impressive interiors to their historic appearance from different centuries.
