Early Thursday morning, Dylan and I made an educated gamble that Lincoln's two BN SD60Ms would lead the 504 local back to Lincoln. Clearly, that ended up being true, and we got to spend a fantastic morning chasing these green machines.

The highway parallels the track for the majority of this line, but trees and other growth limit the opportunities for clear pace shots. I got lucky on a spot and shot through Sam's car to get some motion blur as we followed them to Fairmont.

Once we arrived in Fairmont, they had work at the west elevator. We heard over the radio that the westbound local was in Exeter and waiting to come in to meet them, but the LINDEN was holding both of them up. Seeing the light turn to our backs and a good wait ahead of us before they'd be moving again, we called it a day and headed back to Lincoln.

A week later, we would repeat the chase again, this time with some different spots and some different foamers along, but that will be for another upload.

I've noticed in the past that there were coil cars that would go out on the local and figured there was some industry in Hastings that would take them. It turns out that they are dropped on the westbound trip in Grafton. Our guess is that they are unloaded onto trucks and taken south to the pivot plant outside Deshler but I don't know for certain.

What I do know is that they took a bit of time doing their setout which allowed for the sun to start peaking through again. Here they join back onto the main and continue on to Fairmont.
