Day 142 - I was driving around looking for something to take a picture of today, and went by a field where Hal here was setting up to fly this glider. It's remote control, but has no motor. The string is 400 feet long and is elastic to launch the glider. Once the plane is airborne, the "pilot" looks for thermals in the air to keep it aloft. Sometime this is done by watching the birds, typically birds of prey circling in the thermals. Hal was a great guy and told me all about this kinda stuff. I had no idea they had a meetup group for this sport.
