When we went down to Llanberris suddenly the fog came and disappeared as fast as it came up.

Returning from lifting empty autoracks from Coakley siding OSR 1400 crosses over the Thames River before entering CPR's Woodstock yard and preparing to return to Ingersoll.
This day started with heavy rain in the Detroit suburbs, it was great to end it in Woodstock with an F unit leading a freight under sunny skies.

The composition credit belongs to Chip Phillips who, as far as I can tell, first posted his outstanding take on this scene last winter. Inspired by this, as well as an overwhelming need to get out and shoot something, I set a goal of making my way down to the southern Oregon Coast this winter. My plan was to pursue this shot, and spend some time hunting for new inspiration. So I patiently waited and waited for good weather conditions and then after a record year of storms pushing through I ran out of patience and took off on a gamble. Word to the wise, don't gamble on Oregon Coast weather :) So this is essentially the only shot from a 1,400 mile round trip, it occurred on the first morning with about two minutes to spare from a proper drenching that came in from the west. The next two days were constant heavy overcast and rain. Such is the plight of the landscape photographer.
An MLW-only model, an RS-10 is basically an RS-3 with a long hood. MLW built 129 of this model for four railways and only two survive. One of them is ONR 1400, preserved at Exporail.

Today's story and sketch by me, #1400 is about the recurring nightmare here on our Tropical Volcanic Planet we call Budahunga. The nightmare is the arrival of unwanted Spirits, Punk'n Spider's, Ghosts, and other things, we haven't seen that Screatch in the night. I have set up a special detail of Deputies to shoot the Ghosts with a special squirt gun solution, of Silver Nitrate, and tar from the Budahunga Tar Pit, developed by Rescue Randy, our top scientist and the Galaxies oldest living tissue crash test dummy, I'm not sure why it works, but when the Ghosts or any other, non living entities, are sprayed, they simply fall to the ground as a lump of dirty laundry. It doesn't seem to work on our even growing numbers of Punk'n Spider's, or Zombies. But that's ok the Punk'n Spider's are very cute, they wander around looking for peanuts, and the Zombies have become extremely helpful doing odd jobs. How helpful the Zombies are at getting tar stains out of cloth, will have to be a story for another time, until then Tata the Rod Blog.
My green niqab and full-length khimar worn over black. The khimar has arm openings that I can choose to use if I need to. I have one sittar and eye screen over my eyes.
A pair of FP9As leads Ontario Southland's Woodstock Turn east of Beachville. Today's train has some covered hoppers from Putnam and a few other cars on the head end in addition to autoracks from the CAMI plant in Ingersoll. If you look close you can see the remnants of the RailAmerica decal on the nose of 1400.
Something is better than nothing. What was suppose to be a chase of the Woodstock Job from Woodstock to Ingersoll turned into a half chase of the main event. Not all was lost though, as Cam and I netted a total of 3 OSR trains and some half assed shots inside the OSR shops that afternoon.
OSR 1400 leads the second leg of the Woodstock Job through Robinson Rd. with cars bound for the Sylvite Agri-Services plant near Putnam, ON. Once the cars are dropped, the train will run lite to Ingersoll where they will turn towards their shops at Salford and call it a day.
