Step, my 13yo Vizsla (Hungarian Pointer)...
He has plenty of 'get up & go' and loves the freedom of my garden.

It's metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool's gold. Borrowed from my 13yo sons collection
A summer with 4 boys at home has driven me to spelling words with fruit......

What was the photographer trying to portray in this photo?
Can you hear the sadness in the authors words in this poem?
What does this song say about today’s society?
How does the artist feel about burritos in this painting of the Sistine Chapel?
To all the literary critics, film buffs, art historians, 13yo girls who over-analyze pop songs…
Sometimes people do things just to do them.
Sometimes people make songs because certain words just rhyme together.
Sometimes people paint magnificent artwork just because they want to.
Sometimes people make movies without trying to be a metaphor for anything.
And most photographers just like to take photos of things they enjoy.
I’m one of them.

BIG MIKEY IS WATCHING....
Frosty mornings mean Wormy's thinking maybe it's about time to hitch a ride down south.
Happy Worm's Eye View Sunday!
Also, happy Sliders Sunday -- this is close to the feel of that morning, but it took lots of sliding around in photoshop to bring out the frosty brittle feeling in the photo. It was kind of interesting that when I tried warmer tones, the frost just looked like dew.
The Flickr sharpening is a little too much here in the regular Flickr view. Have a look at it in the lightbox (click on photo or press L).
EDIT: my 13yo daughter entered her first sliders sunday photo today. She managed to turn a too-contrasty mid-day shot into a moonlit shot. take a look!
The sister of an old high school friend got in touch with me and wanted some photos of her 13yo daughter and her. Unfortunately due to the current state budget, she got a pink slip from her teaching position at the end of last year. Being in the fortunate position to offer up shoots on my own terms, I was happy to give them some photos in exchange for sushi at some point. See, everyone wins.
I hope you have a winning weekend.
Josie has been seeming quite lethargic and unhappy. I assumed it was the high temperatures on the weekend. I worried today with cooler temperatures, she wasn't eating much still. I have just had her teeth done about a month ago. I thought maybe there was another problem tooth. When I checked her mouth I found a grass seed, the ones shaped like an arrow head, stuck about 2mm into her gum. I pulled it out, and I think it's infected. I've started her on some antibiotics. She was unhappy like this before I had her teeth done. I had discovered an exposed nerve. She picked up once she recovered and it was so good to see her back to her energetic self. Now this has happened. She's 13.5 years old. Her latest blood tests I had done when I had her teeth done. All is good but some readings were in the high end of good. Her thyroid was in the high end of the healthy range, and last time it was in the middle.
We have cooler temperatures today. It reached 30°C (86°F).
On the weekend we had 41°C (106°F). When the wind blows east, we get all the bushfire smoke. We are safe from bushfires here, the closest one is 50km away.
I'm a woman's man: no time to talk....

A neighbor and her best friend asked to have a sitting last May. She couldn't wait for a CD so I let her copy my digital card; afterwards I deleted all but 4 pics--now wish I'd kept more. I'm just now getting around to editing and printing them for my portfolio. It was fun because they were silly...and it racked up some more experience for me.

He's enjoying being allowed inside. Due to the bushfire smoke and terrible heat, I have let all the cats back inside, initially supervised, but now I can leave the house with them inside and all is fine so far, no spraying. He loves being inside. I even now let him sleep inside at night. I don't have air conditioning but I have a fan and I have shelter from the smoke outside.
O spite of spites,
We talk with goblins, owls, and sprites!
If we obey them not, this will ensue:
They'll suck our breath, or pinch us black and blue.

I am grateful moments like this that remind me that children don't turn into adults overnight and that maybe we all still have some child left in us.
