DISTANT CAPTURE, Noticed this beautiful male, doing short sorties to catch flying insects then returning to the same twig, the plan was to, increase the ISO, for a faster shutter speed and focus on the twig and keep firing shots until it returned, took a few attempts, but had three good images to show for it. Seen at Oare Marshes NR. Kent UK

CONSPICUOUSLY PERCHED HIGH UP, standing guard for the other stonechats feeding on the ground, and they take turns to do this, and this is your opportunity to photograph the guarding one, I took a few shots, But I made a very basic error, I looked down at my camera screen, to see how well the image looked when returning my eyes to the bird it was gone, and I never found them again.

The Natal Multimammate Mouse is a species of rodent in the family Muridae. It is also known as the Natal Multimammate Rat, the Common African Rat, or the African Soft-furred Mouse. This macro shot of a 12cm example is captive bred.

UNOBTRUSIVE little woodland bird, this one lost his nest in a decaying tree stump, during the resent thunderstorms, and is now proceedind to go for a second brood. Seen with cobwebs fot the new nest., wish them more luck this time.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR FRIENDSHIP, so many things going on in my life at the moment am struggling to get onto Flickr so often, please bear with me. Wish you all good health and happiness, stay safe, God Bless................Tomx.

NEST BUILDING TREECREEPER spent a very happy two hours watching them gather up all sorts of material from tree bark to spider webs as seen above and flying to their nest site a hole in a tree. Its needle-like bill is ideal for probing the bark, and its spiky tail is used on the main tree trunk to support its self, am looking forward to recording the whole nesting process if I am lucky.. Seen at my Local Nature Reserve.

This Six-lined Racerunner, a native species, was seen in Wheatridge, Colorado, on the green-belt pathway along Clear Creek.

Its body was about 7" long (12cm), and its tail was equally as long. True to its name, it skittered quickly in dry leaves and twigs alongside the path, its bright green a sharp contrast to the brown ground cover.

Males of this species have a blue underside (as seen in this picture); females have a whitish underside.

The scientific name in some field guides was Aspidoscelis sexlineatus; in other guides it was grouped in the genus of Whip-tailed lizards and named Cnemidophorus sexlineatus.

The Red-browed Finch is found in grassy areas interspersed with dense understorey vegetation, often along creek lines.

The Red-browed Finch feeds on seeds and insects on the ground, but sometimes perches on seeding grass heads.

FLICKING its tail, wadering towards me, with its jucy catch , this male stonechat small and compact but a real beauty, stands its ground, and looks me in the eye, we both know the message, get any closer, and with a hursh agitated call, "tchak" I will be gone. So I stayed in my laying position, and enjoyed his company.

In addition to the renovations and garden work, I continued to fold, of course, no big surprise here ;-))

Here you see an origami cat-model, by Fred Rohm. Folded from a 15x15cm black washi-paper with cuts creating for the legs. Final size: height 12cm, width 8cm.

I used a black patterned handmade paper (21x21cm) for folding this origami 'halloween' bat. At the place where the eyes and mouth would be, I pasted a small piece of red paper on the back, so that the eyes and mouth would become red instead of black.

ADULT MALE, to compare with the female posted before, has a blackish head, white on the side of the neck and a dark back. The breast is a orange/red. They nearly always work in pairs, or small groups, and one will always be high up, as a look out, as its partner feeds. from the ground. This is the golden chance to photograph them.

Cacti are thorny plants that grow in dry and arid areas because they have the capacity to store water inside. They are very resistant and love sunlight.

In the many visits I made to the cactus area in the Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro I was surprised by the delicacy of the flowers in contrast to the plant.

Here I present two species with flowers of very delicate texture and beautiful colors.

Echinocereus cinerascens with flower in lovely mauve color, and 12cm in diameter.

When I saw this funny model, I knew I just had to fold it. Origami is on my mind too :-)) I used a sheet of yellow kami paper 30x30cm. Final size: height 12,5cm, width 12cm.

"""You probably won't know him, but in 'Origamiland" this Santa is a very famous celebrity.

In his younger years he climbed the "Steep Pencil", height 3850cm, in a record time of 3:13.26 hours!! A special achievement, especially since he reached the top all by himself without tools.

The top of this unusually shaped mountain had crumbled over time, allowing our hero to balance on it for a while to rest an to be fit again for the return journey.

Fortunately, just at that moment a drone passed by to capture this special moment for eternity.

And of course this result has made it into the Santa Book of Records!''' ;-))

It is from the same designer, as the model I showed you yesterday (in case you missed that, see first comment box). It is a newer model, but you can see they are related by the shape of their eyes and head.

I folded it with a selfmade two layers Unryu tissue paper, 30x30cm. Kind of experimenting in glueing paper together. This came out all right.

Another example of modular folding, but this time it is flat ;-)

You see both sides of just one origami model:

- on the left the frontside looking like a snow crystal or star

- on the right the backside looking like a flower.

You need 6 modules. I used six pieces of kamipaper, size 11,9x11.9cm. Final size: diameter 12cm.

First try with my new Shen Hao filmback. The filmback works on my "Graflex Speed Graphic" and allows recordings in the format 6cm x 17cm. I'm quite happy with the recording. However, you can see that the lens from the 1960s has trouble with edge sharpness. The circle of light is large enough, but the focus is only up to 12cm. Well, I guess I'll have to look for another lens!

I really do like this wonderful origami cat, her pose, her look and of course the whole folding process ;-)) It is a rather new design, 2020. The kitten, I posted yesterday, is also from the same designer, so they are really family ;-))

These 'dinky toy' trains remind me of 'Thomas The Tank Engine, because of the colors and their shape, I guess. Funny, that I found a quote of the author of those great stories ;-))

Anyway, yesterday I showed you the whole train set (see first comment box, if you missed it), today a different view on the locomotives and their first car for three reasons: First the left red one has a different folded front and chimney, second I did a color change, third just because I like them ;-))

This will be also the last photo of this mini train series. Thank you all very much for your very nice and kind comments, views and favs, much appreciated!

I will be off for two weeks. Have fun and sweet dreams, take care and see you later ;-))

Paper:

I used double colored Kraft paper red/gold.

Both the locomotives are made out of three parts:

- the body 24x12cm,

- the wheels 19x11cm

- the red chimney 18x10cm and the golden chimney 20x8cm

Ensemble them together and you get the locomotive. No cuts, no glue.

Final size: length 12cm, width 3,5, height red locomotive 6,5cm, golden one 8,5cm

The little car is folded from a piece of Kraft paper 14x5cm

Drakolimni (dragon lake in English) of Smolikas mountain is an alpine all season lake situated west of the summit at 2150m of elevation. The lake a 'brother' to the well known Drakolimni of nearby Tymfi, this one although is smaller but deeper. It is heart shaped with red soil bottom, it serves as a perfect campsite with crazy good views of the summit and three trails passing through (around) it.

This lake is home to Alpine Tritons (Triturus alpestris) 10-12cm long lizards that can both swim and walk on land, even tho they aren't under extinction we must protect them.

Mount Smolikas (Greek: Σμόλικας, Aromanian: Smolcu) is a mountain in the Ioannina regional unit, northwestern Greece. At a height of 2,637 metres above sea level, it is the highest of the Pindus Mountains, and the second highest mountain in Greece after Mount Olympus.
