Carlo Emanuele Buscaglia.

The S79 "Sparviero" (Sparrow-hawk) is undoubtedly among the best known Italian aircraft in the world for its exploits in time of peace and in the war. Built for commercial transport, it became popular for its noteworthy qualities of easy handling and speed, winning in a brief time many records of distance and speed with various cargo configurations. Its first mission in the role of bomber of Italian Royal Air Force occurs during the Spanish civil war (1936-39), but, it is mostly because of its presence in all fronts of WW2 that it reached such high recognition. The S79 abtained great success in the role of torpedo bomber during the naval conflict in the Mediterranean Sea, siking numerous enemy cargo ships, deserving the nickname of " Ruddy Hunchback", but at the price of great losses of aircraft and crewmembers.

After a year of shooting movies with the GH1, I did a short compilation of my favourite shots. Some of the clips have already made it to other videos, some I've used for the first time in this compilation.

The GH1 is truly a wonderful camera. I love its small size and swivel LCD, and I love the fact that it can accomodate just about any lenses out there. Do I wish for a bigger sensor? Of course. A more robust codec? Sure.

Looking forward to what Panasonic does with the GH2. Global shutter? Better Codec? High-speed shooting? I can't wait.

Spider having lunch in its web. Shot using the Tamron AF 90/2.8 macro lens on a tripod with Manfrotto 128RC video head. The wiggly footage is due to the wind. Sorry for the extremely short DOF, the size of the spider was 4mm so I'm very close to 1:1 magnification through the whole scene. The lighting condition was varying a bit so I let it AE by itself, no AE-L this time so there's some stepping. I used Aperture priority and closed down to f/8 which is the smallest aperture you could get with the D90 in D-movie mode, unfortunately. Edited on a MacBook Pro 13" in iMovie. Music from www.freeplaymusic.com.

Sorry about the abrupt ending, Flickr has a tendency to cut off my HD-files these days...

Check out the full length version of this clip in HD over at YouTube.
