Interesting that the daughter of yesterdays subject, Mr. A.E. West Esq., was notorious for skippering her motor yacht on the Erne in 1922 and today's shot shows the same river with a steam boat in all it's glory? West Bridge, Enniskillen in this fine Royal plate from the Lawrence Collection looked very good in this shot!

There are some places we can never go; even if we could, it would never feel like we were there. They are safe from our corruption, but by the gift of light we are able to glimpse them.
This is a small portion of NGC 2023, a piece of the sky I find profoundly beautiful. I have colorized a single near-infrared image that would otherwise be grayscale.

WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS ABAD SHOW?
“RAY JOHNSON AND A BOOK ABOUT DEATH” is a new exhibition that will, for the first time, feature a copy of the original 1955 ABAD project by American artist Ray Johnson–the inspiration for this entire series of exhibitions. It will set the stage for all 480 cards from the original Emily Harvey Gallery exhibit together with new submissions created especially for this show. Curated by Joan Harrison, LuAnn Palazzo and Constance Wolf, the new ABAD show will open in the SAL Art Gallery at the CW Post Campus of Long Island University in Brookville, NY, and run October 31 to November 4, 2010.
Submit one 4"x 6" artwork in any media on the theme of death/life. Please include the words “A BOOK ABOUT DEATH” on the front and your name and your e-mail address/website URL on the back. The work may be sent in an envelope for protection or mailed as a postcard. All submitted work will become part of a permanent Ray Johnson ABAD Archive. It will not be returned.
You must submit both a physical work and a virtual one to be part of the project. Every submitted piece will be posted to the exhibition blog at rayjohnsonandabookaboutdeath.blogspot.com/

Avola is an unincorporated community in the Canadian province of British Columbia, located in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District. The community is located along British Columbia Highway 5, approximately 190 kilometres north of Kamloops and 148 kilometres south of the highway's northern terminus at Tête Jaune Cache. The community was originally established as Stillwater Flats. However, due to the existence of another Stillwater post office in the province, the new name Avola was selected when the community received its own post office in 1913. In 2015, the Nature Conservancy of Canada acquired 7.4 acres of wetland and forest land in the community to form a protected habitat for salmon spawning.
AVOLA - A post office was opened here in 1913 during construction of the CNR. Since there was already a Stillwater Post Office elsewhere in British Columbia, the existing name of Stillwater Flats was discarded and that of Avola in Sicily borrowed.
AVOLA was named in 1913 for a Sicilian town by the CNR. For 50 years previously it had been Stillwater Flats, for the pleasant interlude in North Thompson turbulence.

POCON cancels started to be used approximately in April 1973 - replacing the MOON system. Older (1970's & 1980's) POCON did not usually have a Postal Code included. POCON (acronym for - Post Office Computer Organization Number) cancellation are in the shape of an arch, circle, graphic, rectangle, or a square, with a 6-digit number, a town or office name, a Postal Code (if shown) and a date.

NOAA concluded their 2017 Hurricane Hunter tour with a visit to USCG Air Station Miami (OPF) on May 12. This was my first time aboard the Ocean Sentry. A crewmember related that she highly-responsive and joy to fly. Most shocking to me was an Airbus front office with proper yokes! ;-)
