The British Carriage Dog Society National 2011
The 9th Fenix National Carriage Dog trial was held on saturday 9th July 2011 at Lincomb Farm, Lincomb, Stourport-on-Severn - by kind permission of Tony and Rebecca Symonds- Sponsored by 'Fenix' manufacturers of Driving Carriages and 'Burns' and 'Dorwest' manufactures and suppliers of Dog and Horse feeds.
The purpose of Carriage Dog Trials is to demonstrate the use of Dalmatians in one of the roles they have been bred through the years to perform: that of a companion, decoration and guard for horses and carriages in past times.
It is both an endurance and obedience event. All dogs carry out a basic obedience test alongside their handler' horse or carriage. The aim of the obedience test is to replicate modern horse and carriage working environments, where the dog must be under the handler's control at all times. The endurance element scores each Dalmatian's stamina and capacity for work.
It is essential that the dog shows willingness and enjoyment of its work throughout the trial.
So the trials comprises an Obedience and an Endurance test for the Dog, and include vet checks in all classes.

On the wonderfully warm and sunny evening of May 18th, the Virginian Heritage Unit decided to make an appearance in Indiana. I was able to catch it rounding Otis Curve in Otis, IN.
