oranges, and golds, and tans...all mix together for a heavenly hue!

This shot was taken just a week ago, not far from home actually! I decided to take a drive down through the rolling hills (or coulees, as they call them around here), just south of Stevenstown. There's farms all over, just dotting the countryside...and the hills have just come alive with such vibrant colors! Hope you all enjoy!

Ya can't tell from all my recent postings, that autumn is my favorite season, can you?! ha! :) I definitely love it! I love seeing all the beautiful colors--and capturing it behind a camera is an especially great bonus! This year, the colors just seem to pop! I love it! I hope you all enjoy it as well!

This was actually captured just a few miles away in the little town of Holmen. It's actually the backside of a school--a neighborhood I had never been in before! It's a wonder what one can find, just driving around for the fun of it!

Into the Light - Day 286 - Year 2022

----------------------------------------------------

"Chicken Feed" was the original name of the candy with production starting in the late 1880s. It was first invented in the 1880s by a Wunderle Candy Company employee, George Renninger. Wunderle Candy Company was the first to produce the candy in 1888. The Goelitz Confectionery Company (now called Jelly Belly) began manufacturing the product in 1898. While Jelly Belly still makes candy corn, the largest manufacturer of candy corn is Brach's Confections owned by the Ferrara Candy Company. Brach's makes approximately 7 billion pieces of candy corn per year and possesses 85 percent of the total share of the candy corn industry during the Halloween season.

This is actually only 1-2 miles down the road from me! Why go elsewhere, when you have this in your own backyard?! We always think we have to go elsewhere to capture that great picture, but sometimes it's right in front of us! ha! Hope you all enjoy!

OCTOBURN 2022

[IMMEDIACY - impromptu Mushroom Bus Dance Party]

Thursday 01/10/1987 at Newcastle, and recently transferred from Scotland Class 101 set formation 101322 consisting of cars SC53159 SC59069 SC51250 receives attention from fitters. Unusually, the leading vehicle retains the top marker light above the destination blind - these were usually removed upon refurbishment in late 1970s / early 1980s.

If the frequency of locomotive-hauled substitutions was anything to go by, 1987 was the year the problems with the Class 143 Pacer fleet in the north-east were at their worst, with many local services from Newcastle to Carlisle / Middlesbrough / Berwick in the hands of Class 47s (with the occasional Class 31 / Class 45 for variety) hauling rakes of three Mk 1 / 2 coaches.

This practice ceased abruptly from the October 1987 timetable change (05/10/1987), a move that appears to have been pre-planned, as in the weeks leading up to this, there was an influx of first generation DMUs to Heaton (HT) depot, Newcastle, including vehicles of Classes 116, 118 and 119 – none of which had previously operated anywhere near the north-east – as well as some rather tatty Class 101s from diverse regions.

Typically, it wasn’t long before Heaton depot staff started to re-arrange the vehicles into hybrid formations, so Suburban vehicles were marshalled with Cross-Country vehicles, and Class 101 vehicles were also involved in the mis-formations.

A large proportion of the vehicles that arrived in Autumn 1987 were withdrawn relatively quickly by Spring 1988.

OCTOBER 13, 2022 - WASHINGTON DC. 2022 IMF/WORLD BANK ANNUAL MEETINGS: Investing in People and Planet: Financing the Low-carbon, Resilient Transition

Climate action is in danger of stalling with profound consequences for all countries, particularly the poorest. Overlapping crises—the war in Ukraine, COVID-19, surging inflation — could derail the investments required to tackle the climate crisis. It is vital to improve not only the quantity but also the quality of climate finance, making sure it reaches those most affected by climate impacts, prioritizing adaptation and resilience. This event focused on ways to address climate and development needs together, supporting people and communities in the low-carbon, resilient transition.

Speakers: David Malpass, President, World Bank Group; Annette Nazareth, Chair, Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market; Dirk Forrister, President and CEO, International Emissions Trading Association (IETA); Makhtar Diop, Managing Director, IFC; Slawomir Krupa, Head, Global Banking & Investor Solutions, and future CEO, Société Générale; Mari Pangestu, Managing Director, Development Policy and Partnerships, World Bank; Nicholas Stern, IG Patel Professor of Economics and Government, London School of Economics.
