Film: Fuji 100iso Super G Plus Expired 11/1997

Camera: Canon A1

Lens: 50mm

..everyone is tired of the heat and is silent. No strength to speak. Very hot... From time to time someone says this already obvious phrase.. "..PANAS.. panaaas....!! " ("Heat..!")

West Irian, Papua New Guinea island. A representative of the dominant minority, a migrant from the island of Java, rests in the shade in the house of a Papuan from the Lani tribe. Such a picture is not single, fallow deer are open to communication.

Approximately like the inhabitants of the island of Cuba during the struggle for independence. They believe in Chegevara, Bob Marley, they are inspired by the ideas of justice, and they dream of becoming masters of their land. An extremely dangerous for them religion for today... Today, the Lani tribe has scattered around the island and, instead of hereditary tribal territories, and they stray in the lands of other Papuan peoples.

I shot this on Fuji Reala 100iso film, heavily damaged by the heat and fumes in these swampy rainforests, on Nikon FM2, 35mm series E lens.

Chester is my home City, and I have never seen it look so beautiful.

Film: Shanghai GP3 100iso

120 film re-rolled on to 620 spools. I know I could of just bought the GP3 in 620 film rolls but it was already in the fridge and plus, who doesn't love a good excuse for a fumbling around in the darkroom! ;)

Camera: 1949 Uni-Fex (French) Bakelite. This camera took the Kodak 620 film rolls. Unusual for cameras at the time outside of the Kodak 620 family.

6x9 size negative

Double Exposure.

Shot 1: f16 and 6 seconds. And shot 2: f16 and 4 seconds. Decreased exposure time by a couple of stops from what was metered with Weston Master V. To get darker contrast in last of daylight/at dusk.

No Crop, No Filter, Black Mark/Splodge removal in Photoshop.

Tripod

No shutter release cable thread connector so all wobbly thumb's work.

This Camera was not working when I bought it at a second hand market for £2. The mechanism was completely gunked up and rusted. So I took it apart . De-rusted the parts as much as I could. De-greased, Re-oiled and reassembled the camera. Put in a new red window for the frame counter cut from a plastic red semi-transparent make-up bag. There's a lovely hole in the remains of the bag now. Just as well I don't care for much make-up. haha!

The results from the camera are just as imperfect, creepy and plastic fantastic as I hoped they would be. Another camera saved from going in the landfill :)

I would go back to photograph this tree again, if only I had paid more attention at the time and made a note of where it was.

I only took the one shot of this, and didn't see the Crocodile head shaped cloud until i saw the scan...

F16 and 1/100 but because I wanted to try the smallest aperture at F22 and an orange filter...

F22 and 1/50 became F22 and 1/25

Focus:

Manual. Distant scale guessing at 8 meters. I actually spent time to repair a vintage external hot shoe Hawk adjustable range finder ready to use when I would shoot this camera. And then forgot to take it with me on the day. Doh! haha

First time shooting this camera and I'm impressed with the all-round image sharpness of the Schneider lens at an aperture of F22.

An old neighbours' cat is back on his favourite stool in front of the fireplace after having to be kept in a cage for 8 weeks to stop him jumping up on a pinned broken leg after an operation. The pin has now been removed and he is slowly enjoying his freedom again. During the time he was in the cage I would go with my cat (his best friend since they were kittens) and visit him to give moral support and cheer him up :) It's what true good friends do!

This camera at the wide apertures is tricky. Really only a small area of focus with a lot of outer lens distortion. Got lucky with this one as it was the only shot i did.
