Trim Castle is a Norman castle on the south bank of the River Boyne in Trim, County Meath, Ireland. With an area of 30,000 m², it is the largest Norman castle in Ireland.Over a period of 30 years, it was built by Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter as the caput of the Lordship of Meath.

 

The surviving curtain walls are predominantly of three phases. The west and north sides of the enciente are defended by rectangular towers (including the Trim Gate) dating to the 1170s, the Dublin gate was erected in the 1190s or early part of the 13th century and the remaining wall to the south with its round towers dates to the first two decades of the 13th century. There are two main gates into the castle. The one in the west side dates to the 1170s and sits on top of a demolished wooden gateway. The upper stories of the stone tower were altered to a semi-octagonal shape, c. 1200. A single round towered gate with an external barbican tower lies in the south wall and is known as the Dublin Gate. It dates from the 1190s or early 13th century and was the first of its type to be constructed in Ireland.

CN: [Malay and regional vernacular names - Temu pauh, Temu mangga, Kunir mangga, Temu lalab, Kunir putih, Kunyit putih], Kha mîn khao, Khamin-khao, Ama haldi, White tumeric, "Mango ginger" (technically a Curcuma and not Zingiber; sharing vernacular name with Curcuma amada). Native to Eastern and Southern India; elsewhere cultivated. Herbaceous perennial, aerial part up to 130 cm tall; rhizome cream to pale yellow inside. Rhizomes of this plant are similar to ginger but have a distinctly mango flavor. They are most used in pickles in Southern India, eaten raw as "ulam" in SE Asia and flavoring culinary. Also used in folk medicines and effective against stomach disorders.

The crash damage was a result of 33047 and a sand train from Cliffe running away and into a sand drag approaching Hoo Junction - the 33 stopped and the wagons crashed into the rear of the loco.

33047 was cut up at Eastleigh in February 1997.

This 33 had been bought for preservation by the North Staffordshire Railway at Churnet and was delivered there in October 1993.

  

Depending on how you measure it, Toronto has either the second- or third-most prominent skyline in North America -- it has more tall buildings than Chicago, although with the exception of the CN Tower, at middle-left, its tallest aren't as tall (the CN Tower isn't technically a "skyscraper," just an observatory and communications mast). Like Chicago, Toronto fronts on one of the great lakes, and it has a harbor ringed by the Toronto Islands, which are served by ferries (like the one from which this photo was taken) and are the site of Toronto City Airport (hence the plane).

Curcuma mangga Valeton & van Zijp. Zingiberaceae. CN: [Malay and regional vernacular names -Temu pauh, Temu mangga, Kunir mangga, Temu lalab, Kunir putih, Kunyit putih], Kha mîn khao, Khamin-khao, Ama haldi, White tumeric, "Mango ginger" (technically a Curcurma and not Zingiber; sharing vernacular name with Curcuma amada).

 

Native to Eastern and Southern India; elsewhere cultivated. Herbaceous perennial, aerial part up to 130 cm tall; rhizome cream to pale yellow inside. Rhizomes of this plant are similar to ginger but have a distinctly mango flavor. They are most used in pickles in Southern India, eaten raw as "ulam" in SE Asia and flavoring culinary. Also used in folk medicines and effective against stomach disorders.

Withdrawn 47215 waits its turn to be cut up, at the North end of Eastleigh East Yard.

Whilst working a ballast train near West Brompton station in July 1989, 47215 collided with another ballast train. Moved to Eastleigh for assessment but eventually cut up in September 1993.

The breaking up of 47098 is nearly complete, at the North end of Eastleigh East Yard.

These were built in France circa 1964, then rebuilt for use in the UK in 1986 by cutting down the sides to fit the British loading gauge and were used by Tunnel Cement.

 

La Iglesia de Santiago de Carrión de los Condes (Palencia, Castilla y León, España) fue construida a mediados del siglo XII por el maestro Fruchel. Lo más destacable del templo es su fachada occidental, de 1160, una de las más bellas del románico y ejemplo de referencia del estilo románico de transición. En ella se contempla una portada con arco de medio punto y una arquivolta sobre columnas, rematada por un friso con altorrelieves cuya iconografía resume la revelación apocalíptica de Juan Evangelista en Patmos, según la cual cuatro animales rodeaban a un Sedente sobre un trono, y a estos circundaban ancianos. Es la visión del Dios sedente con el Libro de la Vida, de los Evangelistas y de los Apóstoles custodios de las doce puertas de la Jerusalén celeste. Las dovelas de iconografía radial, muestran una interesante colección de oficios de la época, entre ellos: la famosa bailarina contorsionista, acuñación de moneda, la plañidera, músicos, etc. Los capiteles muestran la lucha entre el bien y el mal.
