Esta imagen es la número 1000 de mi galerÃa dedicada a los odonatos y es que en 2007 los descubrà y me quedé fascinado con ellos. Desde entonces los sigo y los estudio.
Todo empezó en una salida a caminar cuando me encontré con un insecto al que sus alas le producÃan unos brillos anaranjados que me encandilaron. Tomé alguna foto y supe, después, que se trataba de un macho de Sympetrum fonscolombii como el que vemos en la imagen.
¡¡Bendito descubrimiento!!

This image is number 1000 in my gallery dedicated to odonates and it is that in 2007 I discovered them and I was fascinated with them. Since then I have followed and studied them.
It all started on a walk when I came across an insect whose wings gave off orange glows that dazzled me. I took a photo and found out later that it was a Sympetrum fonscolombii male like the one we see in the image.
Blessed discovery !!

I figured with this being upload number 1000 to my Flickr account, it should be a personal favourite.
This was my first shot of my first trip to Montana. I was solo and had a good old fashioned paper map and some print outs of other peoples shots from the web. After driving down from Saskatchewan and spending the night in East Glacier the next morning I awoke to a perfectly clear sky. Although this spot was just a few minutes from the motel, I wound up missing a perfectly lit eastbound by seconds. Instinctively I wanted to chase it, but that would have meant leaving this fabulous spot and who knows, maybe there would be another one right behind it.... Less than ten minutes later this grain empty popped into view and set against snow capped mountains, frosted evergreens, fall foliage and lifting morning fog I took my first and possibly favourite Montana photo.
I quite enjoy the little hub of railroad photography that has come to exist on Flickr and the daily dose of fresh photos it gives all of us. Maybe I'll start digging around for another favourite for upload 2000.
Well hot damn! 1000 followers! You all got me feeling on fire!

picture that gained just 7 likes!!! with my most recent.
It has been a wild journey and I have seen some
great work from really talented people creating sims
which was my first love within Second Life
MANY years ago, indeed I started this page because I realized I didn't have a single picture of ANY of the work I had done back then. I have made some friends

1000 millimeters was the focal length of this shot. I used the Sigma 150-500 mm f/5,0-6,3 lens with the APO Sigma Tele Converter 2x mounted on my Nikon D750. Even at ISO 1000 the result is pretty sharp.
