The centre of a brilliant red rose that was in the flower arrangement in the room at Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort, Mexico. The red is incredibly intense, perhaps overpowering.

In Mayan the word "Akumal" means the 'place of turtles'. The bay is protected by a large reef, and there are sea grasses at the southern end of the bay where it is most calm - that is where the turtles most often feed. They lay their eggs on the beach in during the summer months.
