Dienstzeit
Die Bürgermeister Abendroth wurde 1908/1909 als Stationsschiff Eider auf der Eiderwerft in Tönning unter der Baunummer 89 gebaut und unterstand der Königlichen Wasserbauinspektion in Tönning. Die Herstellungskosten betrugen 300.000 Mark. Das als Schoner getakelte stählernes Schiff ohne eigenen Maschinenantrieb wurde 1909 als Feuerschiff auf einer Position auf der inneren Außeneider eingesetzt.
Im Ersten Weltkrieg wurde es als Kriegsfeuerschiff in der Nordsee eingesetzt, seit 1919 wieder auf der Eiderposition. Im Jahr 1927 erhielt es den Namen Bürgermeister Abendroth, benannt nach Amandus Augustus Abendroth, und diente als Reservefeuerschiff für die Positionen Elbe 2, 3 und 4.[1] Später unterstand es dem Wasser- und Schifffahrtsamt Cuxhaven. Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges wurde es als Beobachtungsfahrzeug der Kriegsmarine in der Ostsee eingesetzt.[2]
Als Leuchtfeuer und Lotsenstation war es bis 1966 auf der Position ELBE 3 im Dienst. Elbe 3 war eine Feuerschiffsposition nordwestlich Cuxhavens und nordöstlich der Insel Neuwerk in einem der Hauptschifffahrtswege der Deutschen Bucht. Nachfolger auf der Position war bis 1977 das Leuchtschiff Weser.
Als Segelschiff konnte die Elbe 3 notfalls auch mit einer Sturmbesegelung manövriert werden. Bestand das Leuchtfeuer zunächst noch aus Petroleumlampen, wurden 1930 ein Diesel-Generator und Akkumulatoren für die elektrische Befeuerung eingebaut. Dadurch konnten auch die von Hand betriebenen Nebelhörner ersetzt werden.[2]
Das Stahldeck hat eine mittlerweile erneuerte Decksauflage aus Oregon Pine.[3]
Zur Kommunikation mit dem Festland hatte das Schiff einen Taubenschlag an Bord. Bis zum Beginn des Ersten Weltkrieges wurden beim Tausch der Besatzung auch neue Brieftauben an Bord gebracht.[3]
1923 Locomobile, Model 48 from the Nickel period. $9000 dollars when new in 1923!
Locomobile was one of the earliest manufacturers in the advent of the automobile age. For the first two years after it's founding in 1899, the company was located in Watertown Massachusetts. In 1900, production was transferred to Bridgeport, Connecticut where it remained until the company's demise in 1929. The example above is a 1923 Model 48 touring car, and a very original example that had been owned by one family for over 60 years. Power is provided by a 525ci T-head 6 cylinder engine that is rated at a true 100hp. President Warren G. Harding had the exact some car and model during his tenure in the White House.
Model 48 and the Durant years
The most important for the marque became the impressive Model 48. Introduced in 1911 as the "type M," it had a very conservative, perhaps dated, concept. It had a conventional but huge chassis with a wheelbase of 143 inches (3,632 mm). Its engine was a straight six with side valves; cylinders were still cast in pairs and it featured a nonremovable cylinder head. Displacement was 429.4 cu in (7.0 L), from a 41⁄2+ in × 41⁄2+ in (114 mm × 114 mm) bore and stroke, giving it a 48.6-hp tax rating by the North American Chamber of Commerce. While called the "M" internally, this car is usually referred to by its tax hp rating. The brake horsepower rating was somewhere north of 90 for the original model, higher in the later versions. Quality of materials and workmanship were impeccable and among the best in the world. Such was also its pricing: A typical open-body cost about $10,000 when the average Model T Ford Phaeton cost about $300. Locomobile also offered custom designs for the lamps and metal work, carried out by Tiffany Studios. Until 1915, left- or right-hand drive could be specified; afterwards, left-hand drive became standard. Right-hand drive cars were meant for export and sat on a chassis four inches shorter. Around 1919, the engine was updated with a longer 51⁄2+ in (140 mm) stroke, for 525 cu in (8.6 L) displacement while retaining the same tax hp rating.
A smaller "38 hp" model, very similar to the Model 48, was added in 1913. The model 38 has a 425 cu in (7.0 L), 62 bhp (46 kW) version of the T-head six and sits on a somewhat shorter 140 inches (3,556 mm) wheelbase. By 1914, Locomobile had stopped selling all four-cylinder models to concentrate exclusively on sixes.
In July 1922, Locomobile was acquired by Durant Motors, which not only continued using the Locomobile brand name for their top-of-the-line autos until 1929, but also still produced the Model 48 until its demise in 1929. Until the mid-1920s, this car was Locomobile's only offering. In 1925, the marque brought out their first new model, the 8-66 Junior Eight, with a more contemporary straight-eight engine, and more importantly, a lower price of $1,785.
Powered by a pair of Union Pacific EMD SD90MAC-H 6,000 hp locomotives, a long southbound UP freight pounds upgrade out of Walong, California, climbing Tehachapi Pass on March 28, 2001. This area is a bit different now, as a second track goes through a cut just to the right of the Tunnel, essentially making it double track from the east end of Marcel to the west end of Walong.

als allererstes möchte ich mich heute bei Euch Allen für die inzwischen über 1.000 Follower bedanken!
Vielen vielen Dank für diese riesige Resonanz auf meine Bahnbilder. Ich freue mich sehr dass Euch meine Eisenbahnbilder begeistern.
An eine Veröffentlichung meiner Bilder dachte ich an meinen Anfängen erst gar nicht.
In erster Linie machte ich die Bilder und die zahlreichen Fototouren aus Spaß an der Freude für mich privat.
Erst nachdem es einem ehemaligen Vereinskamerad gelungen war mich zu überzeugen bei Facebook aktiv zu werden, wagte ich meine ersten Versuche ein paar meiner Bilder der Öffentlichkeit zu zeigen. Zu meiner Verwunderung kam das bei vielen sehr gut an. Im Laufe der Zeit gingen dann auch zahlreiche Bilder an Eisenbahnzeitschriften und EVU's die Interesse an meinen Bildern bekundeten.
Durch meine vielen überregionalen Fototouren gelang mir dann irgendwann der Durchbruch.
2016 fand ich dann schließlich den Weg zu Flickr wo ich letztendlich auch hängen geblieben bin.
Eine Zeit lang zeigte ich noch meine Bilder parallel zu Flickr auf Facebook und in diversen Foren. Aus zeitlichen Gründen hab ich diese dann aber aufgegeben und mich dann nur noch auf Flickr konzentriert.
Hier ist die Fangemeinde immer größer geworden und heute kann ich sagen, die 1.000 sind geknackt. Mit so einer positiven Resonanz von Anfang an hätte ich eigentlich nicht gerechnet.
Durch den Internetauftritt ergaben sich irgendwann auch nette Bekanntschaften, woraus sich im Laufe der Jahre auch gute Freundschaften entwickelten.
"Die einen kommen, die andern gehen"
So hielt natürlich auch nicht jede Bekanntschaft für die Ewigkeit. Im Laufe der Jahre lernte man auch viele Menschen kennen, die einem nur kurz begegneten und dann wieder ihren eigenen Weg gingen.
All das gehört zum Lauf des Lebens, ob im realen Leben oder hier im Internet.
Für mich war es insgesamt interessant diese Erfahrung gemacht zu haben und ich glaube die Erfahrungen im Internet haben mich auch ein Stück weit zu dem gemacht, der ich heute bin.
Zuletzt befand ich mich krankheitsbedingt in einem sehr tiefen Loch, wodurch ich teilweise das Hobby nicht mehr so ausüben konnte wie die Jahre zuvor. Ich hatte sogar den Gedanken dem ganzen öffentlichen Auftritt ein Ende zu setzen und mich dem Hobby nur noch gelegentlich privat zu widmen.
Seit ein paar Wochen bin ich nun auf dem Weg der Besserung und es geht wieder ganz langsam bergauf. Das werdet ihr wahrscheinlich auch gemerkt haben, dass ich zwischenzeitlich mal ein paar Bilder hochgeladen habe.
Es ist zwar noch lange nicht wieder perfekt und es gab in letzter Zeit noch einmal den ein oder anderen schweren Rückschlag.
So ist das leider im Leben, es kann nicht immer alles perfekt sein und trotzdem geht es immer irgendwie weiter.
Ihr habt mich unglaublich gestärkt und mir neue Kraft gegeben, meinem geliebten Hobby treu zu bleiben, auch wenn es mir nicht ganz so leicht gefallen ist.
Aber um nicht nur von mir zu sprechen, möchte ich auch besonders erwähnen dass ich jedesmal begeistert bin was ihr hier auf Flickr für wundervolle Bilder zeigt! Das ist der Wahnsinn und es macht immer wieder Spaß Eure fantastischen Bilder zu betrachten. Bei der ein oder anderen Aufnahme dachte ich auch schon öfter, "Das wäre auch mal ein Ziel für mich!"
Wäre da nicht immer das Thema mit der Zeit und zuletzt die Einschränkungen durch meine Gesundheit.
Aber umso mehr freue ich mich, Eure Bilder hier bei Flickr zu sehen!

Nun zum Bild:
Im September konnte ich erneut die Gelegenheit ergreifen die kobaltblaue 110 262 am Henkelzug zu fotografieren, dabei ging es allerdings nicht um den Zug selbst sondern um die Lok. Dafür eignete sich das traumhafte Turmmotiv in Oberwesel perfekt.
Nach etwas Wartezeit passierte die edle Lok den Katzenturm und den Ochsenturm.

More than 21,000 petroglyphs of people, birds, animals, plants, as well as numerous geometric and abstract designs are scattered along a volcanic basalt rock ridge in a valley on the west side of the Sacramento Mountains. The petroglyphs here date to a period between 200-1450 AD and were made by the Jornada Mogollon people using stone tools to remove the dark patina (desert varnish) on the rock exterior. This image of the Bighorn Sheep hit by three arrows is the best known and most photographed at the site.

I am an avid Wordle player and on 11 May I reached a streak of 1,000.
If you don't know Wordle: it is a word game - you get 6 chances to guess the word of the day, which is always a five-letter word. After each guess you know which (if any) of the letters you guessed were correct, and if they were in the correct position.
The most challenging thing is that you have to play the game every day - if you forget to play or can't, you lose your 'streak' and you have to start from zero again 😭
