I imagine my husband woke up this morning to see these rays peeking through and heard the hallelujah chorus. It's Friday, and his week of camping with his sixth grade class is over. (Can I get another hallelujah?)

I volunteered to chaperone my daughter's field trip today—to see Flat Stanley, the freakin' musical. If I had known it wasn't a play, I'd not have volunteered. As you know, I loathe, with a violent retching noise, the musical—the whole genre. I've never even seen Sound of Music. That's how much I hate musicals.

Industrial Museum of China in Manchurian Shenyang
Last September, when I returned to my home city, Manchurian Shenyang, I visited the Industrial Museum of China, located in the Tiexi District, which was the industrial quarter of Shenyang and the heart of the heavy industrial in China since 1910s through 1980s, when the changing demographics and economy model left the district behind, culminating in about 75% unemployment rate in 1990s in that district, whose population's plight was documented by a heart-retching documentary, Tie Xi Qu: West of the Tracks, recording the decline of the district and the consequences on its once proud industrial worker residence. Now, though largely through controversial land deals, the district came out of the deep depression, a visit to the museum still brought mixed feelings to many people in Shenyang - nostalgia, sadness, anger, resignation, and reasonable or unreasonable hope and pride.

I can't even really look at the photo without wanting to retch..Ever since I had kids I have trouble with spinning objects, amusement rides, looking up like this, looking down, you name it.

Submitted for February's MSH # 17 - High - Looking up at this angle you can really see how high this building is.
Submitted for August's MSH # 5 - Giddy - (affected with vertigo; dizzy) I think that pretty much sums it up.
The preserved forts are just a small part of the original village, believed that reached the top of the mountain of the Castro, where currently fortification.
For its size it is believed to host a fairly large population at the time, so it shows that even in those years Vigo was an important city in the Galician area, especially in the section of the market, in which, thanks to its proximity It kept sea fish trade with different parts of the region. Most of the remains date from the second century BC and and although as I said only a small part of the old town and still keeps 26 stone buildings right on the slopes of Mt. They occupy an area of 1,800 square meters which is complete with a reserve area of more than 2,000 meters which could extend the excavation in the future. The team of archaeologists from Terra Retching, project, believes that this set castreño I can be considered a kind of protociudad or oppidum, the name given to large settlements that played a central role in the coordination of their territory. Abandoned for years, the site Vigo was very run down and it took eight months of work to get it ready and show it to the public.
Los castros conservados son solo una pequeña parte del poblado original, que se cree que llegaba hasta la parte alta de la monte del Castro, en donde actualmente está la fortificación.
Por su tamaño se cree que pudo albergar una población bastante numerosa para la época, por lo que se demuestra que ya en aquellos años Vigo era una ciudad importante en el ámbito gallego, especialmente en el apartado del mercado, en el que gracias a su proximidad al mar mantenia comercio pesquero con distintas zonas de la comarca. La mayorÃa de los restos datan del siglo II y III a.C. y aunque como os decÃa solo es una pequeña parte del antiguo poblado, aun se conservan 26 construcciones pétreas en la ladera derecha del monte. Ocupan una superficie de 1.800 metros cuadrados que se completan con una zona de reserva de mas de 2.000 metros a la que podrÃan extenderse los trabajos de excavación en el futuro. El equipo de arqueólogos de Terra Arqueos, responsable del proyecto, considera que este conjunto castreño puedo considerarse una especie de protociudad u oppidum, como se denomina a los asentamientos de gran tamaño que jugaron un papel central en la coordinación de su territorio. Abandonado durante años, el yacimiento vigués estaba muy deteriorado y fueron necesarios ocho meses de trabajo para ponerlo a punto y mostrarlo a los ciudadanos.

WEEK #14: Theme: FEAR.
I don't like butterflies, pictures of them can make me retch, sometimes hurl, Flickr is a tightrope I walk never knowing when one of them will appear. There is no word for my fear, Lepidopterophobia is fear of the order of insects including butterflies, moths, etc.
These are some feather butterflies that hang from the light fitting in our study, it's an appalling picture but was almost bearable to take, I don't mind them being there in real life but they look too lifelike on this picture !

Ugh. Blurry. Oh well, the Kodachrome version ought to be in focus.
I find myself trying to remind people that going forward or backward isn't a two-way street. Now, honestly, I really love that it's increasingly possible for a person to be gay and out and not fear getting beaten up. Instead of being stuck in a closet. It's not done yet, but today's vote to repeal DADT is another good step.
But that doesn't mean that, in a modern train station in the heart of a modern city, you can't have people in the finery of old, top hats and all, singing classic Christmas carols in a classic a capella style. In fact, it's about the only form of Christmas music that I'm not totally and utterly sick of, hearing real people play real Christmas music. About the only recorded music that doesn't make me retch is pretty much Dick In A Box right now.
Our future is not just moving forwards. It's about moving forwards while saying "Hey, you know, that way we did things years ago was kinda awesome."
