Smile on Saturday #OneHundredSmiles
What must be Berlin's largest teddy bear. "Fynn" by Steiff is 4 meters (13 feet) tall, and can be found at the atrium of the LP12 Mall of Berlin on Leipziger Platz. I had to stand right in front of Fynn, because the comfy chairs placed right at Fynn's "paws" were all occupied by tired Christmas shoppers. The Mall opened in September 2014 and is Berlin's second biggest shopping mall. This December I visited it for the very first time, together with Sabine.R, on a photowalk. Taken with the Laowa C-Dreamer 7.5mm ultra wide-angle lens.
Steiff is one of Germany's most renowned manufacturers of stuffed toys / plush animals. It was founded in 1880 by Margarete Steiff, who designed and made most of the prototypes of her plush animals herself. Steiff's nephew Richard, who joined the company in 1897, invented the teddy bear in 1902. By 1907 Steiff had already manufactured and sold 974,000 teddy bears, the output continues to increase to this day, and Steiff plushies are sold worldwide. The Steiff company motto is "Only the best is good enough for children."
Happy 100th, Smile on Saturday! Keep smiling :-)))

Koh Lipe is the southernmost island of Thailand in the Andaman Sea. It is part of the Adang-Rawi archipelago. This archipelago forms, together with the Tarutao archipelago, the National Park Koh Tarutao. Although it's a small island you can simply hike a few hours and get lost in the the depths of the jungle. A number of wild animals are commonly spotted on Koh Lipe, including huge Asain monitor lizards, wild boars, king fishers, and much more. The sea and the forest combination is not to be missed, taking in nature in all its glory; blue lagoon waters, sand that glows white under the sun and lush green forest together with the rhythm of the jungle. The seawater is emerald green-blue and crystal clear. The island is surrounded by a beautiful coral reef with numerous beautiful tropical fish. That it is a National Park means that the entire island is protected area. This is not for nothing, because nature here is really beautiful. The southern part of the island is a natural haven, with mangroves, dense vegetation and jungle, beautiful beaches, huge cliffs and private beaches.
The Asian water monitors can be found at he southern part of Lipe island. More than fifty percent of the island is still dense jungle. Monitor lizards have long necks, powerful tails and claws, and well-developed limbs. The Asain water monitor is a carnivore and not very fussy about its prey. The most common prey of the Asian water monitor are birds, eggs, small mammals such as rats and mice, fish, lizards, frogs, snakes and turtles. A dragon can stay under water for up to 30 minutes when hunting in the water. Photo taken along the rocky coast near Pollo beach. The Asian water monitor hides well in the centre of the photo.

Every year, around the last weekend of August or perhaps 1st weekend of September, a street car show takes place here in Manchester, the so called "Cruising Downtown". And for every pertrolhead/car enthusiast this is a grade A opportunity to admire some really cool cars. Like this 1966 Shelby Cobra for example, also called AC Cobra in UK. It is powered by the classic "side oiler" 7,0L V8 Ford engine delivering roughly 425HP (and allowing the car to have a whopping top speed of 164MPH) and while some people may think this is a Ford car, it's not. The manufacturer is AC (Auto Carriers Ltd) in UK or Carroll Shelby in the US. Ford, however, played a significant role developping this car as, aside from the giving it its hear (the engine), it also cooperated in the design of it. This is the 3rd Generation of the car and probably the most popular one.

Thamudic and Nabataean inscriptions, depicting camel caravans, hunting warriors and various animals, are common throughout the Wadi Rum area. The Alameleh inscriptions, near the Seven Pillars of Wisdom and on the edge of the Diseh district, are some of the most comprehensive and best preserved.
The desert trips with the jeeps are well organised and I would recomend the 4 hour jeep trip, any excursion will be organised for you by Mr khaled.

OK, some of you might prefer "Don't Marry Be Happy", but... ;-) I myself have no experience with being married whatsoever, so I can't really say what I'd prefer ;-)
Fun upload for the weekend, also for Smile on Saturday's theme "(K)NOT SO BAD!", Sliders Sunday, and 2DWFs "A New Beginning". I hope it qualifies for HSOS, there is a knot, albeit a rather small one. But I think it's an important one: the one that ties the tins - which are supposed to bring good luck and happiness to the couple - to the bride's car. Please forgive the sugary white vignette, I tried to get rid of as many other cars as possible, and I also thought a little kitsch would be OK ;-) This was taken at the parking lot of my favourite garden centre that is much more than a garden centre, the "Königliche Gartenakademie", which is very popular for family celebrations as well. By the way, the German nickname for Citroën's iconic 2CV/3CV car line-up is "Ente" (= duck) ;-)
HSoS and HSS, everyone :-) !

Last summer was awesome in Finland 😍 Sunny and hot. I love hot weather. It was a piece of heaven. Hope next summer will be the same.
Hi my dear Flickr friends! 🙋 💚💙💗
I'll be back on Monday to Flickr and then I'll visit your photos, fave them and comment (and also I'll answer to your comments).
Sorry for delay. I'm fine but I'm not at home now and I only could open this photo for all from private (I uploaded it ealier).
BTW I love this kind of photos. For me, this photo is more precious than for example a photo of squirrels, birds or flowers.
Have a wonderful weekend! 🌹🌼🍁 And best wishes from forest girl! 😊

Oh boy. This one took its pounds of flesh. Doesn't it look peaceful here? It wasn't. There were hoards of black flies and mosquitoes. I had to set up the camera and then pace for over an hour until the conditions were right in a futile effort to keep from being drained dry by those little vampires.
10/10, would do again for that view. Mount Sir. Donald sure does look good in gold though, doesn't it?
Shot on a Canon 5D mark IV with a 24-70 f/2.8L ii and a LEE landscape polarizer. Processed in Camera Raw and Photoshop.
The Bent Pyramid and the king's wife (the small one and the first one on your view) on the left;
The Red Pyramid (by himself) in the back and middle - it is the third on size in all whole Egypt);
The Black Pyramid on the right.
There were 11 pyramids here.
It's still warm here and some flowers are still blooming.
Many thanks to everyone for your visit, comments and faves! Much appreciated! 😊💙

...O speranze, speranze; ameni inganni
Obbliarvi non so. Fantasmi, intendo,
Inutile miseria. E sebben vóti
Son gli anni miei, sebben deserto, oscuro
Il mio stato mortal, poco mi toglie
La fortuna, ben veggo. Ahi, ma qualvolta
A voi ripenso, o mie speranze antiche,
Ed a quel caro immaginar mio primo;
Che di cotanta speme oggi m'avanza;
Risovverrammi; e quell'imago ancora
Sospirar mi farà, farammi acerbo
L'esser vissuto indarno, e la dolcezza
Del dì fatal tempererà d'affanno...

We have had armored cars on this stream before and whereas I do have that "déjà vu" feeling, I believe we have not seen this particular one. We are in the center of Dublin the questions are what is the date and what are they doing there?
While there were not as many unknowns here, when compared to our other more evasive mysteries, derangedlemur, Beachcomber, and guliolopez have corroberated the key points; Of location, subject and date. The location is unequivocal - the corner of Henry Street and O'Connell Street (beneath Nelson's Pillar and the GPO). The principal subjects are confirmed as members of the Pro-Treaty National Army, including Captain Patrick (Specky) Griffin on the right, their Rolls-Royce Armoured Car (number ARR6), and an effigy they appear to have made of Anti-Treaty republican Rory O'Connor. The date, based on this effigy and other clues, is suggested as sometime within the first week of July 1922 - during the Civil War's 'Battle of Dublin'. Probably within a day or so (or even just a few hours or minutes) of Hogan's image of the evacuation of a nearby hotel.....

Date: Catalogue range c.1922. Likely first week of July 1922

Surprisingly empty upper platforms at Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) on a beautiful summer evening. Believe it or not, Berlin Hauptbahnhof is the largest train station in Europe, with approximately 300 000 travellers per day, making it the 4th most frequented train station in Germany (after Hamburg, Munich, and Frankfurt/Main). Or the least frequented, at least on a Saturday evening at 19:39 o' clock. Well, the next train to Zurich from platform 13 wasn't due until 21:04. At least there was a lonely dove, an employee of the Deutsche Bahn AG (in the red hat), shuffling along the platform, and a guy who organized his luggage. And us: Sabine.R, marionrosengarten, --Conrad-N-- and H. Roebke :-)

From the 8th century BC. the settlements of the surrounding hills united and the city of Rome was founded. The Forum Romanum also known as Foro Romano, is a plaza surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome. When you look at the Roman Forum today, you will see a large plain full of ruins. Yet this has not always been the case. Once the Forum Romanum was the bustling center of Rome. Everyone came here. Acting on political talk, important decisions were taken at the Roman Forum. There were several temples where people could pray. For a thousand years, the Forum of Romanum was the center that everyone attended, but in the Middle Ages this once-important center fell back because people became less and less interested in this center. The trade moved to Trajan's markets. The forum Romanum changed into a meadow where cows could graze. Stones and other building materials were taken away to be reused for new buildings. The forum slowly changed into a meadow where farmers had their cows grazed between the last ancient remains. At that time it was given the nickname Campo Vaccino, the cow field. Already during the renaissance people got interested in ancient Rome and the antique buildings of the forum, but this was mainly expressed in occasional treasure tombs in various places throughout the site. From 1800 onwards, work became more structured. In 1870 there was an overall excavation. The forum is now one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city.
Two thousand years ago, the Roman Forum in Rome must have looked imposing. The Roman Forum was the center of ancient Rome. Here were the most beautiful buildings of the Romans: public buildings, temples and memorials. We visit Rome on a hot summersday and temperatures soar to over 40ºC. Photo from the Piazza di Santa Maria Nova at the main entrance of Parco archeologico. We took it slow amid region’s most intense heatwave.
Vanaf 1800 ging men structureler te werk.
