It's a green scene here in Maryland this Spring. Usually I'm not a fan of super saturated colors in my photos, but this green is too good to pass up. So, I present, my dog on a log. Most people clean their dogs for such regal shoots- I prefer mine soaked and muddy.

Here is another "M"!

M-5 is no longer monochromatic, but still has a minimalist palette. Added some life, there's a whole crew around. Decided to standardize the bases of the new creations so that they will somehow look good together on the shelf.

EGP's 151 039-5 with an cement train near Ovelgünne

When I hiked out to the tunnel 5 and the beginning of Cliff siding near Bealville I ran into a solid set of five Santa Fe B40-8W led by the 519.

March 31, 1995 was definetely one for the books. Though this shot never saw the light before now.

This image started during a bus ride up the California coast. I would see these lights along the highway. Very pretty, like a flashlight shining in an aquarium, lots of atmosphere. I watched these lights for a couple days until one morning Lou Reed’s “Stephanie Says” came up on my ipod, the light post went by the bus window and the finished picture kind-of fell into my head. I added the little horse because nobody wants to be alone in the dark. The model is my son Thomas.

And yes I’m the guy in the back of the dark bus scribbling in a little sketch book.

Worked hard for this one, after Kayaking across the lake to these old reed beds I waited for sunset. The trip back was interesting as a storm blew up and I had to paddle hard to get back across the lake. For a small lake it generates surprisingly big waves. 5 minutes later and it would have been a much longer trip as the wind went crazy.

Happy birthday nikhil

A brief hour of sunshine after a night of rain. The air was crystal clear, washed by the storm, and the light amazingly crisp, lending an almost 3D quality to this image, but now the rain has returned. At least the bees are still at work...

This time last year, I didn't think I'd ever see this again: Barney on the train! On 21st May it was one year since poor Barney was paralysed, after suffering a spinal stroke. It was so shocking & scary for him & us - I really thought we might lose him. We had to fight just to get a diagnosis & even once we knew what had happened, the prognosis for recovery was pretty poor (you can read what happened on May 2021's pic). However, Barney is a fighter & he has done better than I dared to dream could be possible. He's still got some neurological symptoms & is a bit wibbly wobbly & frail but Barney has regained some muscle in his back legs, he follows me around the house like he used to, loves going on walks (he yells at me if I don't take him out enough!) & is really not looking bad at all considering he's 15 & has had to relearn how to walk over the past year!

Anyway, earlier this month, we decided to see if Barney might be up for a train ride. For years, Barney used to travel about on trains with me pretty often, sometimes, we went on quite long journeys, when we visited friends or family & he learned to really enjoy it. However, once Covid hit, we stopped going on the train very often & then, just when I was starting to think we could take Barney on public transport again, the poor guy had his stroke. For a long time after that, going on a journey on the train would've been very difficult & no fun at all for Barney, he just needed so much physical assistance to move & was easily exhausted. Finally, this month, we felt he's fit enough to maybe enjoy a short ride to the town where we used to live, just 10-15 minutes away. Getting Barney from the platform, *onto* the train was umm, slightly scary but as you can see here, once safely onboard, Barney was pretty excited to be off! It makes me so happy he's improved enough to enjoy a little trip out :)

The grounds of the Heide Museum of Modern Art are popular with picnickers and for weddings. All are welcome at Heide (with appropriate booking). But amidst the Sculpture Garden some creatures simply call it home.

Being right next to the Yarra River, bird life is abundant. Here I witnessed an interesting development (and natural symmetry). Five Australian Wood Ducks have moved in on the territory occupied by five Galahs. One colourful Galah appears to be making a stand, while the others go on feeding (Galahs are generally regarded as a little less intelligent than other parrot species in Australia - beautiful though they are). This is revealed in the popular term for a fool as "a galah".

I told you that VA was bipolar. Thursday it was mid-60's yesterday not much cooler. and this is today. Also, I can't remember the last time it snowed this early here in the great NOVA

If you take a look at the two previous pictures, just to give you perspective, those were taken last Tuesday, and this picture was taken not even a week later.

I made a B&W version of my previous upload but now I'm not so sure that works as well, I think one of the best things about the slightly refective stainless steel cladding are the subtle colours.

From MAKE Architects website : "Our world-class headquarters for financial services firm UBS have raised the bar for office and workplace design. We worked with developer British Land to design a functional, pragmatic space that allows UBS to consolidate its London workforce for the first time. The result – a 13-storey ‘groundscraper’ – is visually innovative and represents a powerful vote of confidence in the City. Furthermore, it’s become a catalyst for regeneration in the Broadgate area.

We based our bold design on the form of a perfectly machined metal object – a symbol of the building’s internal function. The main facade is primarily constructed from stainless steel, which unifies the surface, establishes a strong presence, and reflects its bespoke nature and single occupier. This sense of robustness is rigorously carried through to the detailing, materiality and finishes, reflecting an architectural language of quality and precision. Inside, an ultra-rational arrangement of the structure and cores provides four large trading floors that can accommodate up to 3,000 desks, plus seven levels of offices."
