Shot on film 35 MM . Giuseppe è stato il primo operatore di ripresa in Calabria . Lavorava per Euro tele Calabria UHF 49 . Un uomo che girava con una batteria di piombo al posto della cintura … una telecamera a tubi con aiuto operatore che portava con se il registratore U_Matic e relative batterie e microfoni.

Pino , ora ci sono le parabole e tu montavi ferri per captare le onde Hertziane in VHF-UHF.Caro Pino , ora è cambiato tutto ed il tuo laboratorio è chiuso con un manifesto sbiadito. Tu che hai montato antenne per anni sei stato dimenticato. Io ti ricordo come l'uomo che cercava i segnali...non cercava i segnali RAI , cercava i segnali delle prime tv locali. Che il tuo Dio delle onde Hertziane possa proteggerti e farti guardare oltre l'orizzonte...perchè le tue antenne andavano oltre l'orizzonte. Oltre l’orizzonte non c’è Dio ma ci sei tu ...ed il tuo UHF 49 poi diventato 48.

This is a different variation of my "Polaris DAB 288" startrail. For this one I only blended 120 images together in starstax 7. This gives a more defined appearance to the stars. Its ironic that after shooting non stop for just under three hours that I have blended only an hours work for this image.

Based on US AN/ARC-52 aircraft communication radio. The valves shown are, L-R, pentode 5654, then two 6J4 triodes. right hand one is a Mullard equivalent M8248 to a 6J4. Incredibly there are also two subminature leaded-wire valves in the enclosure behind: 6021 double triode, and pentode 5840.

The circuit uses 15 crystals to provide a selectable set of stable fundimental frequencies, then harmonic products of these as well, providing more outputs still on select. I suspect but yet to understand if this is for a Wadley Loop anti-frequency-drift system.

The low-UHF band Würzburg radar was the primary ground-based gun laying radar for the Wehrmacht's Luftwaffe and Heer (German Army) during World War II. Initial development took place before the war and the apparatus entered service in 1940. Eventually, over 4,000 Würzburgs of various models were produced. It took its name from the city of Würzburg.
There were two primary models of the system. The first Würzburg was a portable model that could be folded for transit and then brought into operation quickly after emplacement and leveling. The A models began entering service in May 1940 and saw several updated versions over the next year to improve accuracy, notably the addition of conical scanning in the D model of 1941. The larger Würzburg-Riese was based on the D model but used a much larger parabolic reflector to further improve resolution at the cost of no longer being mobile.
The Würzburg D was introduced in 1941 and added a conical scanning system using an offset receiver feed called a Quirl (German for whisk) that spun at 25 Hz. The resulting signal was slightly offset from the centreline of the dish, rotating around the axis and overlapping it in the centre. If the target aircraft was to one side of the antenna's axis, the strength of the signal would grow and fade as the beam swept across it, allowing the system to move the dish in the direction of the maximum signal and thereby track the target. The angular resolution could be made smaller than the beamwidth of the antenna, leading to much improved accuracy, on the order of 0.2 degrees in azimuth and 0.3 degrees in elevation. Earlier examples were generally upgraded to the D model in the field.
Even the D model was not accurate enough for direct laying of guns. In order to provide the system with much greater accuracy, the FuMG 65 Würzburg-Riese (known as the "Giant Würzburg") was developed. Based on the same circuitry as the D model, the new version featured a much larger 7.4 metres (24 ft) antenna and a more powerful transmitter with a range of up to 70 kilometers (43 mi). Azimuth and elevation accuracy was 0.1-0.2 degrees, which was more than enough for direct gun-laying. The system was too large to be carried on a truck trailer and was adapted for operation from a railway carriage as the Würzburg-Riese-E, of which 1,500 were produced during the war. The Würzburg-Riese Gigant was a very large version with a 160 kW transmitter, which never entered production.
Built in the 17th Century, at the entrance to the grounds of the Bishop's Palace. This house was actually lived in until a few years ago.
Electricity was supplied via a pole in the street outside. The UHF and VHF ariels for the old analogue television reception are still standing tall.
It may not be an elegant building, but it is deceptively bigger than many gatelodges, having quite a sturdy strucure and a charm about it that attracts.

Visiting Shannon 4/4/68 also in connection with checks on the UHF frequencies was this Lockheed T33A from the 1868th FCS based in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Mike's VHF+UHF radio (which is really two radios, and can also do cross-band repeater function - very useful in emergency situations) and a 13.8 VDC power supply allowed him to talk to us down at the Dibble House.
The dial and on switch to an antique television set with a UHF channel positioned to channel 5. Everyone basically watched the same programs, listened to the same news broadcasts, and politically were less divided.

Initial development took place before the war and the apparatus entered service in 1940. Eventually, over 4,000 Würzburgs of various models were produced. It took its name from the city of Würzburg. This was the most powerful Radar in the World at that time.
The 1944 Radar Museum is installed on the historic site of the German radar station Distelfink, near the town of Douvres-la-Délivrande. Through a permanent exhibition in two refurbished bunkers, visitors can discover the history of the radar station since its creation by the Germans in 1943 until the liberation during the Battle of Normandy.
Originally, the land occupied by the two bearing points forming the German radar complex is gradually returned to the farmers after the fighting. But the museum was born thanks to the efforts of Raymond Laville, president of the Veterans of Douvres-la-Délivrande: the commune acquired three hectares of land in 1992. Two years later, shortly before the 50th anniversary of the landing, the Memorial Of Caen receives as donation a radar Würzburg-Riese which is finally installed on the site. On June 6, 1994, the museum was inaugurated. It is managed by the commune of Douvres-la-Délivrande since 2006.
