Zeit [bumped]
"Zeit" is German for Time. I stumbled over this motive on my recent trip to Berlin. At the time of shooting, the light was very diffuse, so I had to experiment a little to make the letters stand out.
NB for the "Pattern Recognition" set:
This picture illustrates the concept of "binding" whereby the brain analyzes the image in multiple networked processing centers simultaneously (e.g. here the typography). The results of the various centers (figure, color, typography etc.) are then integrated (bound) to a "profile" of features which are then perceived by our conscious mind as an "entity". Latest research indicates that binding is a time-dependent process, i.e. the profile we perceive as interpretation is constituted of all features that were identified within a time span of only a few milliseconds.
