LEED project: South Elevation

This was a three-day design of a building for a group project in my sustainability class. Aside from the foibles of group projects in school, this project was a lot of fun. The time frame caused some serious constraints-decisions had to be made quickly and...well...decisively.

The facade: High fly-ash content precast concrete panel rainscreen. Ribbon windows are double-glazed. These southern ribbon windows are deeply recessed, and in retrospect, the horizontal louvers playing across those windows are probably entirely unnecessary.

The 'brow' at the ground floor are operable insulated metal shutters.
