Although today this is Liberty Harbor, in 1979 it was the tired old Morris Canal filled with ruins of the industrial age, which by then was totally spent and long gone. Jersey City, New Jersey.

Rare vintage postcard of the second Lackawanna Tunnel being bored through Bergen Hill in Hoboken. The existing tunnel was opened on May 12 1877 and this photo is from one year before the new one opened in 1908. Looks like they just made it through.
