Tiny piece of shell

It's very small, smaller than food comes, like the broken off tip of a piece of rice.

It embedded itself (I'm sure with my help) in my heel. I couldn't contort myself enough to see and get it out, so I had to enlist the help of my kids.

Small wasn't much help, he was more interested in the situation than in resolving it! But Tall bravely dug around in my heel (while I tried not to cry out), and I put pressure from one side and eventually it showed itself, he grabbed it with the tweezers and we all took a big gasp of relief.

So tiny! So ouchy!

Mind you, the smallest thing I had in me causing pain was a very small tip of a thistle that managed to embed itself in a nerve in the bottom side of my big toe. The doctor had to get a loupe out and even then if I wasn't pointing it out precisely, she said, she'd never have been able to find it. When she removed it, again, audible relief!

For someone who walks around barefoot 99% of the time, it's amazing how much little things can hurt!
