The Mason Jar Biosphere
With a mason jar, and $5 worth of supplies and some free snails from Mandy, we have a little biosphere.
Altogether, there were 13 snails in the little container. 12 made it to the biosphere, one was too tiny to be moved and ended up...crushed...by the effort. Even the gentlest effort.
Scott bought a tiny container of aquarium rocks, and two guppies and some duckweed and underwater plants.
We took some dirt and put it on the bottom, then the plants and then the rocks around them (pointless, but I tried), and then we poured the fish and water and rest of the duckweed in.
After that, we added the little snails one at a time by hand and then topped up with the snail water.
After a moment of hysteria, the fish settled down (they got a little trapped under the plants) and are now getting acclimated.
Tiny little guppy faces are a little spooky.
