Fisher-Price Little People
These are from the early 2000s, and include two sets, the demolition/city planner set and the mechanic set. There may be more parts around, I'll have to see if I can find them.
If you press on the little people, their vehicles make sounds that are appropriate. The big demolition set has a bar that pops out and knocks the blocks down, too, or you can use the demolition ball on the crane.
These were Joshua's. They had limited use as he was more fond of the bazillion toy cars and all the LEGO.
