The Front Porch

We're stripping the paint and fixing up the railings but I wonder if it's just a make work project and if it'd be better to just tear them off and replace them with something taller. But that gets me into a cycle of "well if I do x, then it makes sense to do y first" and soon I'll have to rob a bank to get started.
