THAR WATER AID URGENT APPEAL
Many of you will have read or watched news on the drought tragedy in Thar over the last decade where thousands of men, women and children have lost their lives due to sever malnutrition and drought related diseases. The vast majority of deaths have been young children and the elderly.
A recent Tribune newspaper published on June 28 2015 describes the tragedy being suffered by the population of Thar:
“For the Thari, as the people of Tharparkar are known, death is always around the corner. According to the district health officer (DHO), so far 170 children have lost their lives this year at Mithi Civil Hospital due to malnutrition and waterborne diseases. Despite several appeals and front-page stories, the plight of the people remains the same. The drought-stricken population of 1.5 million continues to fight against all odds to survive in the face of rampant malnutrition.”
HOW YOU CAN HELP!
We are doing a LIVE TV Appeal for Thar Drought on ASSALAM TV SKY 842 starting from 7.00 pm to 2.00 am. This appeal will be running for the next 3 days continuously.
