Urns
Rather than put up a series of images of urns in the Hermitage Museum I decided to create a collage of a few. I know, I know that the top left is not an urn but it filled a corner for me. The two green are made from Malachite a beautiful green stone and they were made by master craftsmen! The blue is made from Lapis Lazuli, a deep blue semi precious stone and was really gorgeous. The centrepiece for me and for the collage is the enormous onyx urn. This was made of two huge block of onyx from the same location and weighing more than two tons. The lady in the foreground is closer to the camera but does give some idea of the scale of this magnificent piece.
The ornament on the top left is one of a set of two with a clock decorating a room and either side of a fireplace!
