The "Church"
Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico. Posssibly this building was tomb for a high priest or king. Its ornate facade has images of the Rain God, Chaac, centrally over the door and on the corners. Either side of the central Chaac is a niche, each containing 2 figures, representing a tortoise, crab, shell and squirrel, which support the heavens at the 4 cardinal points.
On right is an annex of a larger building known as the "Nunnery", but probably accommodation for thise of very high staus.
