Swatt
film 07
07 LOOKS PROMISING WITH:
My Blueberry Nights - Wong Kar Wai's first English language film (!) Starring Norah Jones (!!)
Funny Games - Michael Haneke remakes his own notorious 1997 film, shot by friggin shot, but casts Naomi Watts and Tim Roth and sets it in the Hamptons. Allowing them to use mayo instead of butter on their sandwiches was about the the only change he let them make.
I'm Not There - i.e. Suppositions on a Film Concerning Dylan. I saw a very teasing teaser the other day. I will lay money down right now on uber-chameleon Cate Blanchett winning a gold naked man next year for her spooky personification of Bob Dylan (one of seven in the film).
Red Road - Andrea Arnold's first feature (via genesis at Zentropa - Lars Von Trier's production company) after winning the 2005 Oscar for Best Live Action Short for the amazing Wasp
Zodiac - David Fincher and serial killers reunited again for the first time since you-know-who's head in a box.
A Mighty Heart - I'm a huge fan of Angelina Jolie....er I mean Michael Winterbottom. This tells the story of the death of Daniel Pearl.
Atonement - The chap who wrote 'Proof' gave me this book by Ian McEwan for Xmas after pretty much telling me what the inciting incident is. It is incredible. Please don't screw it up you 'Pride and Prejudice' people.
Joshua - a smart dark funny creepy kid psychological thriller, with a song by Dave Matthews. I hear the script supervision is out of this world.
