BARAN

Baran is one of the most important rituals in Durga Puja. In the Dashami evening, before the immersion, married women gather together to smear sindur on the idol and then go round the idol for 7 times. This is done so as to bid Ma a safe journey back to Shiva in Mt. Kailash.
