Metroline SEL749 on route 297 in Ealing
Route 297 was formed in 1968 and partly replaced a withdrawn section of route 46. That is not the current route 46 - this version ran between Waterloo and Alperton and was being wound down as the whole route disappeared in 1969.
It originally ran from Willesden to Perivale and was extended to Ealing Broadway in 1984. It was another victim of the craze to convert routes to midibuses in 1990 and I imagine they were rather crammed looking at the urban areas this route goes through. It made it back to double decks in 2003.
The route runs from Perivale Garage using a mix of Volvo B9TL's and these East Lancs Olympus bodied Scania N230UD's which were displaced from Central London route 7.
