The Hoover Building, built in 1933, is an Art Deco gem on an otherwise nondescript stretch of the A40. At night, lit up in green, it's even more striking.
The building housed Hoover's offices and factory up until the 1980s, when it was bought out by Tesco, which has put a supermarket into the back half of the building and literally flies the flag over the front. I suppose that's suitably symbolic of Britain's transition from a manufacturing to service economy.
