Bournemouth shed line-up 1961

Photographed from a passing train BR 4MT Mogul 76063, H15 30476, Battle of Britain 34055 'Fighter Pilot' and Merchant Navy 35015 'Rotterdam Lloyd' stand on Bournemouth shed in July 1961.

The MN wasn't identified by the photographer but just discernible on the smoke deflector are the studs which held the Golden Arrow and 35015 was the only rebuilt MN to work on this train.

I am going to stick my neck out and say this is the 2nd of July. The engines look posed and all are blowing off (or are about to) which suggests they have been stood there for some time.

On 2nd July a special was run from Waterloo to Bournemouth West hauled by Battle of Britain 34050 'Royal Observer Corps' which had been awarded a long-service medal ribbon in a ceremony at Waterloo that day and which it subsequently carried on the cab side below the number.

This train would have passed through Bournemouth Central and passed the shed and presumably would have carried some enthusiasts with cameras. I like to think this is a tribute arranged by the shed staff.
