34021 'Dartmoor' at Weymouth
One of 10 negatives acquired together from the same source as the similar bunch of 7 that I posted recently. All 17 were taken at Weymouth and dated simply '1967' but, as stated before, a couple clearly were taken a couple of years earlier.
At first glance these four photos appear to show 34021 waiting to pick up a boat train at Weymouth Junction and then pass the photographer as it leaves for Waterloo.
However, the frame numbers show that it is in reverse and therefore must be the same day as the 'Farewell to Southern Steam' special, 2nd July 1967 as on that day 34021 was on carriage shunting duty during the morning and early afternoon.
It then took the 15.06 perishables to Westbury, returning to Weymouth light engine at 17.35. This confirms my comments in the caption to the photograph of 34021 leaving for Westbury which was one of the previous bunch of seven.
