120601-N-UK333-096-PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii- (June 1, 2012) - Electronics Technician 1st Class (SS) Richard Stanley is greeted with a kiss by his wife as he is the first to disembark when the Virginia-class submarine USS North Carolina (SSN 777) returned to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, June 1, after completing her maiden six-month deployment to the Western Pacific region. Commissioned in 2008, the state-of-the-art submarine is capable of supporting a multitude of missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface ship warfare, strike, naval special warfare involving special operations forces, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance.
