The Last Sunset of 2021
It was literally a chase. We were running a bit late. I didn't get enough time to plan this trip. Nor did I get enough sleep before this trip.
The only thing that I could theorise from Google Earth was that the hill top can offer a view of the beach and the sunset together. I thought there would be a point on the hilltop from where I could look down in the south westerly direction. And I badly wanted to capture the last sunset of the year.
As you can see from the pic, my theory turned out to be a sack full of crap. The viewpoint opened to the south-south-eastish direction, offering a jaw dropping view of the beach. But it also meant that I had to capture the sunset separately.
The place was Baindur, a small town in coastal Karnataka in the district of Udupi. It offers brilliant sunset points from the Ottinene beach. And the Maravanthe beach is also located very close to the town. As I was rushing to reach the hill top, just as the National Highway turned and aligned with the coastline near Maravanthe, I saw the glimpse of the sunset. The magical view suddenly made me feel very small, very insignificant.
You know what else is there in Baindur? A chance to stargaze and see the Milky way. More on that, in my next post...
