The New Candid Camera, 1974

From a September 1974 Minneapolis-St. Paul edition of TV Guide. "The New Candid Camera" with Allen Funt and John Bartholomew Tucker premiered in syndication. The show was created by Funt and its origins go back to the 1940s on radio, as "Candid Microphone." The most popular version ran Sunday nights on CBS from 1960-66. Allen Funt's son Peter has since carried on the tradition.

The competition was stiff in the Twin Cities during Monday night "access time" in 1974, up against "Let's Make a Deal," "The Bud Grant Show" (with Minnesota Vikings coach Grant and KSTP sportscaster Tom Ryther) and Ironside reruns, billed at the time in syndication as "The Raymond Burr Show."
