JOYFUL LEAVES DANCING ON A LAVENDER BREEZE
Very small back splash project created for a client's kitchen. She wanted something with purple and green that also used dishware. Due to the small size, design was a bit of a challenge, but the small size also allowed me to push the envelope between "artistic" and "functional" since there is not too much of it! Using the pique I was able to add some positive relief to the leaves and with the mirror I added some negative relief, so the piece as some depth. I also grouted carefully and used a jeweler's file on the sharp edges to make the surface smooth and easy to clean.
MATERIALS: Scrap stained glass; recovered dishware, salvaged mirror on 1/2" wedi board with sanded grout. SIZE: ~ 30" x 4".
